just got myself a little runaround while i take the xe off the road for a bit of tlc.
only thing is, its just seems soo slow compared to what my xe was before i changed the engine on it (both 1.2 spi)
also throughout the rev range it is just constant flat spots.
anyone got any ideas?
cheers
Liam

Have you done the usual and looked at plugs and leads. Also has it been stood for a while as the fuel may have been in for a while and my need a good run out, to flush the crud out.

As said above also if its been a grannies shopping wagon then it will be carbon`d/coked up and slow anyways, when i bought my old spi it would struggle to hit 70mph!

After a few weeks of gentle abuse (not driving like a tool as youll either crash or pop it) it gently freed itself up a bit and after a while would happily reach upwards of 100mph (speedo speed so probably only about 50mph in reality lol)

Check the ignition timing
When mine was mega retarded it was pretty much flat throughout the revs.

Its the only way a 1.2i will put a smile on your face lol.

Back on topic if your used to driving a xe then going back to lawn mower will feel a lot slower than it did before. Just your perception of speed has changed.

1200's are shocking, esp when you put your foot to the fllor, they feel even flatter then.

Redline in a 1200 is about 3901 rpm anyway.

As said above, give it some welly & she'll free up a bit.
