Ok so I know that on a hatch it's somewhere around the regions of 40-49 give or take, but it's hard to find certain information about it on saloon's.

What the limit or will it not vairy ??

Tried search

Cheers

edit: sorry if this should go in styling !!

I think if you stick with the same as a hatch you will be safe. The re-assurance with a saloon is that it will require less if not no arch work depending on how low you go.

No doubt there will be someone with an exact answer.

You can move this into styling using the "Thread Tools" link just above your post.:thumb:

closer to 25 :(

(I've been looking at BMW & VW wheels again)

Likely they'll stick out a fair bit at that offset.

Always the option of machining them down, however that can have adverse effects on the strength of the wheel.

Well there on e-Bay so i'l go a punt then get a photo up if i win.Worst case i'l bung them back on with a clean and be willing to post them and try my luck.

Thanks alot for all your help :)

Likely they'll stick out a fair bit at that offset.

This got me thinking, something which I have not done for ages.

According to this diagram, 25mm offset would not sit out further than the normal offset mentioned earlier. What would be an issue is the rim width, do you know what that is?

7J if i'm looking at the right numbers:confused:

Thanks you very much for your help Shaun its a big help !

My last wheels, have a look at my project thread (pages 7 & 8) were 7.5" wide and they were just fouling my coilovers and stuck out 10mm too far, so 7" on a 25mm offset would fit on standard lowered suspension, but may require spacing to clear the inner arches.

Ok, well i'm planning on fitting GAZ coilovers (the PNG deal ones ) over the coming weeks so im not sure how this will vairy the out come.

Trail and error i guess.

I may still give them ago if they stay cheap and let you know for sure .

I'm going over you WIP now and it's very good to let you know. stunning car.Need to get around putting my one up one day.

Check some of the euro project threads out I'm sure there are some really low offsets in there

I think you will have some inner arch scrubbage at that offset, unless spaced.

the inner arches of a loon are exactly the same as a hatch, i beleave et13 wouldnt fit

depends on how much its lowerd.

you have the luxery of round arches, so you might make it with a 175-50 tyre on them

idealy on any nova you want to stick to the vaux figure ET49 , i wouldnt be goin below ET 45 though , its not just how far i sticks out lol , they handle **** in the wrong offset wheels

LMFAO thanks :p

Inner arch on the saloon is the same as the hatch, as is the desired wheel offset (49 - the lower the offset, the more it will stick out). The arches on the saloon also come out the same distance as a hatch, its just the round flare looks different to the square flare of the hatch. But of course, as said, you have more room above the wheel due to the round arch.

I think its an MOT fail to have the tread area of the tyre protruding from the arch...

Incidentally, my cav cesaro wheels have rathing bulging sidewalls on the 195/60/R15 tyres, and only scrub a little when turning hard to the left.

195/45 16s and they're a wide 195 (more like 205s, and yes tyres are different!) with et49 vaux wheels and I have plenty of room.

I had 205/50s on at one point and with the lip rolled there was still plenty of room on the outside but no the inside. If you go wide you need to compensate by dropping the ET or "modify" your inner arches.

7" on around Et42-45 should be ok on a loon I'd say and try and stick with a 195 tyre if you can.
