72 standard not 75, zorst will add 3-5 bhp depending if a decent manifold is added as well, people have told me 40s add 14 bhp and the cam not sure 7-8bhp at a guess.

SR does have 75

Check page 231 of the bible (haynes) You will see then section called 1.4 carburettor models, 75 bhp.

My 1.4sr had just over 100bhp, with a few mods. Pretty good. (though obviously nowhere near as good as CP's 180bhp 16 valver)

1600 GTE was originally advertised as having 100 bhp, 100 lbft of torque and 45mpg at 75mph

My 1.4sr had 130bhp with cam, head, carbs and zorst, run on 30mm chokes it had shed loads of torque too.

Was the 130bhp at the wheels or flywheel?

Deffo at the fly.

If I built one again, I'd use the 1300 or 1400i head and work on that. The 1400sr one even when modified doesn't come close. So ther is more possible.

What did that equate to at the wheels then? About 112? ish?? I have been told the 1300 head is far better, especially a modded one. I have stuck with the 1400 head on mine, but sometimes wonder if i should have gone with the 1300 head? I don't really know how much difference I would have by doing this though.

u mention the 1400i head being good:

do u mean the SRi (C14SE) or the single point injection version (C14NZ)

ive got a 14NZ lying in the garage that will be getting converted to 40's at some point and i was already on the look out for a 1.3 head for it - so depending on what u meant i might not need one after all :)

I meant the SRi. The best thing to do is look at the inlet ports. The worst ones are square in shape(SR), the next best are circular (SRi), then you have the cathedral shape (1.3sr) which is even larger. The reason I would be happy to use the sri one is that I believe it has larger valves as standard.
