Theyre not renowned for being overly valve safe so id guess if youre kucjy you just need a set of valves and the belt kit, shall i even bother to price up gen ones for you mate?

I hate to say it, but thats the exact same thing that happened to my friend in his GTi-6. Ranted it a fair bit and it came back for more every time, yet one of the few occasions where he was driving fairly slowly and the belt went kapwing. Took out most of his engine with it.

Funniest bit was, a day or so after getting it back, he tried to race an Impreza and bent the crank lol

Times like this I'm glad to be driving the celica - "safe" engines ftw :D

That's a ****ter mate! Not the sort of car you should have picked if you wanted a quick reliably daily driver though IMO! I would have had my money on gearbox issues first :( Whip the head off and see the extent of the damage when you can be bothered in a few days :)
About the paint, I thought it was the 16v's that were Monaco and the Willy was another blue but didn't want to look like a n00b!
Chin up lad!

Rexy
11-11-08, 08:02 AM
yeah its sporty blue 449, willy 3's were monaco. there is not a lot between the two TBH. lol

My mates wifes X reg 172 spat its belt on tickover and took out 13 valves iirc, theres no guarantees with french engines especially not 16valvers unfrotunately!

Those clio william's are very awkard to work on, i would imagine the reason that the cambelt hasn't been changed is that if you pay someone to do it the book time is something stupid like 12 hours if i remeber correctley technically you have to take the engine out, however you can use a scissor jack and an engine crane and push the engine over whilst it's off the mounts and suspended on the crane and you can just about get in there, i hope you find it fun working on them as you'll spend plenty of time doing it, stick to vauxhall or jap mate !!
