Most of you know this car from the previous owner but I took some new pictures once I got it home.

No major plans at the moment am open to subtle suggestions (I'm too old for boyracer mods and huge bodykits etc)

As it stands just now:

Spax RSX Coilovers
-80mm custom rear springs
Astra 2.0L front brakes
Arches folded
Gsi bumpers
Compomotive MO’s refurbed in black
Gsi interior
Astra Mudflaps
Vauxhall mats
Scorpian Alarm system

Future Plans:

Exhaust
HIDs
Window tints (not too dark tho)
Possibly tune the engine
I'm sure I will think of loads more over the winter

Nice car!

Yep deffo a free flowing exhaust (bin the cat if it has one), up the boost/fuel. Perhaps a 1.7 in the future, and a subtle fmic.

Mattman

fmic??

sorry but initials and shorthand aren't my forte

Front mounted intercooler.

Looks nice, as said fit a boost gauage and up the boost!.

Sorry, front mount intercooler.
A reckon a nice subtle alloy one would look good, and aid in keeping those charge air temps down.

Lovely example. I had a 1.5TD in silk violet. They go so well for what they are even when std.

PM me if you want an intercooler. I kept back a BMW one for mine but never fitted it.

Finally......after a long time going past the Nova on the bus to work every morning wishing it was back on the road so I can actually drive it, I get my years bonus on friday and the car is going in to get the bolts that sheared drilled out....................happy days

Still gutted that this has been such an ar$e for you fella. I drove the car all summer last year after the engine swop and it was sweet. Glad to hear you're finally getting it sorted anyway, it'll be worth the wait. At least it's managed to dodge all the grit over winter! lol

the bolts always sheer mate , i had a td nova and mine snaped on the way home from picking it up , i had them drilled and brand new stronger bolts put in and yet again they snapped (litterally 3 weeks later) sold the car to friend who sorted it and he sold it on , later for them to snap again , if the suspension is quite harsh on your nova mate they will just keep snapping , its a shame because they actually go like f**k when the feul and boost is up't

Cormac

If you ever fancy selling up let me know, I wouldnt mind another td

The front coilovers are adjustable and after hearing the above I will be softening them up. Do you think they are just to harsh a set up for the TD?

Turns out battery was completely dead and not taking a charge. All sorted now and been running sweet as since yesterday morning.........................(famous last words)

Treated my self to a new stereo yesterday too, all thats needed now are components, some HID' and something done about the exhaust (possibly just a backbox or tailpipe for the look, dont think theres any need to go all out on a full new system just yet!!!!!

Okay so got the Nova back at last having had the new alternator fitted.

1. My headlights still get slightly brighter (not as much as before) when at a stand still and revving the engine. Thought this would stop with a new alternator.
2. Indicators are flashing a bit quicker than they were before and get quicker the longer the engine has been running until the point where the indicator in the dash stays lit and the indicators outside the car do nothing. Checked bulbs and all visible earths.

Any ideas anyone?

My lights on my td always did that even after a new alt

Cheers count, I'm not overly worried about the headlights as i can live with them as they are and if your old derv did that then theres not a lot I can do tbh.

Just the niggly issue with the indicators to sort now, or I could just take the bmw/audi driver route and not use them........lol

None that are any better than the ones in this thread but I have a meet coming up and a flyering trip to do with c-vox so will get a load of pictures done then and add them to this thread.

Car needs a good wash and polish too after being sat gathering dust since November......

found this starter on ebay (200455733281) which is spot on for the derv. don't think I am going to beat this price for a new unit unless anyone knows different?

had a look at your thread just then mate, good bit of work gone into that. Loving the interior and boost gauge replacing the clock (which I will be doing at some point, the gauge that is, not the interior)

Got other things to do that are more important though and cash is a major problem at the moment :(

No teeth left on the flywheel? Starter not located properly??

Mattman
30-04-10, 05:01 PM
solenoid not put back together propery as its a tight squeeze to get it up into position with it attached, so I removed it and hadn't stuck it back together right.

All sorted and running again, just about to go give her a good wash :)
