Also try horn switch, its a common fault. Although if it's an intermitant problem the horn maybe the culprit.

I've got the old problem

Have I just pressed the horn, or have I run over a swan?

I'm after a truck horn!!! Just got to change 12v into 24v

lol should be good, just wait till some pensioners are about to cross the road then - honk! lol Or you could get a musical horn, perhaps jingle bells as its soon the season to be jolly! lol

I could do what I normally do, rev the engine and shout abuse.

I was thinking that having a horn at the front and one at the back might be something for "the next car" if i ever find enough money for it

Well i have a feeling the wire to my horn has been bodged, i've got no idea how to change the whole wire or nuffin but i'll ave a look, when i finally pass im gonna go over the breakers and get me a mk2 cav horn or summit.

It's not hard to repair/replace, I think it's by the bottom of the radiator. I like the sound of a truck horn, about ?20 but worth it. It's just that little bit louder than what you normally hear/expect tp hear.

on mk2s its on a bracket on the inside of the front bumper. i went in2 pizza hut car park 2 fast, trying to rush to get to "all you can eat" and hit the curb in the car park which bent the bracket. oops

ive got a MK4 escort horn on mine, was a bit of a bugger to fit cos novas have the "switch" on the negative but the escort one ive got was earthing to the body when i bolted it on, so somehow (cant remember now) had to bolt it in without it earthing. Sounds good tho :D

If she's not horny, you'll have to turn her on first mate.

Fitting a horn fron a truck would be easy electrically speaking, a lot of the smaller trucks are only 12v, the only problem would be fitting a compressor, air reservoir, etc..........by the way, you can get american style trumpet horns that work on 12v only with no need for an air supply, apparently they fit them to boats...

Nova GTE's had a twin horn assy ( 1 low & 1 hi tone)

If you want to fit a non std. horn, a lot of the aftermarket horns have only got 1 terminal, and earth thru the mount bracket. you will need to fit a relay in place of your old horn & then wire it live to the battery.

I never realised so many people had so much trouble with horns, maybe they should be added to the winter tips thingy

Cheers

I think one of my problems is my steering wheel, cos sometimes when i hit the horn it works, and other times it doesn't, ive got a stupidly small mountney steering wheel, it looks like its come off a Go Kart!!! Might change that back to the standard one and see if me horn works better then.
