are the engines they make reliable?? does anyone have one, or has anyone bin in a car with one?? and are they as fast as people always say?? and are the engines designed for road use, ie everyday use as well as track events, 1/4 mile etc...??? cause there 1.616v conversions, ie 200bhp + !! sound like a good plan as far as power to weight ratio go's, i spose it all kinda leads back to the usual 20litre or 1.6 debate!! but yea, anybody know anything bout these conversions etc............ ???
thanx

they cater for everything really. you would usually buy parts from them not get them to do the work, many parts they sell are all top quality.

the 1.6 16v is very very drivable upto around 180bhp.
This engine with throttle bodies everything else std puts out ariound 160bhp, and if you were to go have the emisions tested with no cat on the car it would get better resluts than the standard engine with a cat!!!!! if not it would at least pass. the engine management is very accurate.

End of the day it all depends what your after and how much money you have!!

you wont get 0-60 in 5 secs in a nova unless u spend like ?10k as you need so much more than just a powerful engine.
best bet would be the 1.6 16v running 170ish bhp, probly cost around ?2500 all in, 0-60 around 6.2s with top speed 140+ depends what limit u had set on engine, it would limit at around 7750 - 8250 rpm!

for 5secs your talking LSD'S etc but yea id say 150bhp is drivable. my 16v 2l is just bout standard and thats just on the verge of drivable in the dry only! as for top speed dont bother can get you in more trouble than its worth! trust me! id like a car to be fast up to 120ish 140+ is jail time

If you want know all about SBD ask on MIG. There's plenty of peeps on there with good knowledge.

SBD (Steve Broughton Developments) are acknowledged as one of the best Vaux and Rover engine tuners in the country. They have got loads of experience and engines running in many forms of motorsport like Caterhams etc etc. What they say is what you get but at a price cos they dont piss about.

for max acceleration u want max torque, not power. get a V8!!!
