can anyone tell me if the gsi cylinder head fits directly on to the 1.4 sr, and what i would have to change to make it work. also, what sort of power gains should i expect to see? any information would be extremely helpful.

I'm not sure, but an a training mechanic and i would say NO! For the fact that the sr is a 1.4 and the gsi a 1.6 so the bores will be smaller on the 1.4!

You will mess up the compression ratio, this will make the car slower. This is because you will be squashing 1400cc of air in a space big enough for 1600cc of air thus lowering the compression, You could skim the head to get the compression right again, but then you are risking the valves clashing with the pistons, sounds like a bad idea, unless somebody else has made it work?

get the head skimmed i did it to my 1.3 and i can get 120mph out of it.

u could stick the cam in though and get a a small gain in power maybe 2 or 3 hp
