Very flawed logic if you believe that.
Red bull pay his wages not mclaren so you are saying they should have told him to pass up the points and extra money they would get so someone could win the championship fpmsl.

For next season the only people racing will be the 4 in mclarens and ferrari's, possibly one bmw as well.
No point anyone else racing as they will not be in the title fight and we dont want them effecting the results.
CVNT
Seemed to me Glock toed it a bit hard coming out one corner which through him out for the others, he was on dry tyres and it was the wet part of the track, easily done I'd say. He did well to keep up with everyone else I thought, seeming they were all on intermediates! Great driver mind.
It wasn't the best way to win a championship as it was out of his hands, but look at some of the bad luck his had earlier in the season with penalties, etc! It all worked itself out IMO.

It's about time Ham got a break - all the dodgey penalties he got spanked with over the season. Not to mention the crowd boos and overall hate from other drivers.
Don't really care how it happened so long as it did.
But let's not forget the true hero of the day - David Coulthard - The man's a legend at excuses and bad luck. The old man and I will be heart broken that no longer can we mock our own misfortune in some kind of Coulthard analogy.
Ahhh yes, the man who wanted to be a rebel and do some doughnuts in his very last Grand Prix at the end, highlighting (cough) the end of an illustrious career. Taken out after 14 seconds of the first lap - THE ONLY inncident of the entire race. ROFLCOPTER

Donnington has it as Brands Hatch's contract is finished (Silverstone don't actually have the rights just now, but Brands couldn't pull off the required upgrades for various reasons so hire Silverstone for the event just now) Silverstone bid for the new contract as did Donnington, Donnington has a new multi billionaire owner who's piling money into it for the F1 rights, completely redeveloping the place and no doubt putting in access directly from the motorway.
Anyway, for those that think Glock slowed, I take it you missed the shot of him in the background just about throwing the car off the track? It was exactly the same as at Spa when the guys on inters romped through the field in the last lap. And of course Vettel isn't going to play nice, he was being pushed along by a Ferrari engine.
I'm no massive Hamilton fan but fair play, he drove a mature race and it paid off

I think some people *cough* rick *cough* are choosing to miss that point about Glock!
Vettel went out for himself, i dont think anyone can fault him for doing so!!
IMO its about time hamilton had a bit of luck his way seeing as most of the season he's had to put up with Ferrari In Assistance.
I dont personally believe Glock slowed. He was on slicks and it had just started to piss down. I'm not an armchair F1 expert but im pretty confident he didn't have much grip to play with.

Hamilton has been stripped of his title: The F.I.A deemed his toenails too short, thus giving him an unfair weight advantage*
*ok, I might be lying, but I wouldn't be surprised if the F.I.A were having a meeting after the race to see if there was any way they could strip hamilton of the championship

I personally think Hamilton is a jumped up arrogant prat but well done to him for winning. For him I think its more about the media hype whereas you could really see how much it meant to Massa.
Glock lost a suspicious amount of time in the last few bends but you could see his car twitching all over the place.

Hamilton doing "the lap"
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/7667875.stm
A final thought for those suggesting Glock slowed down. If he wanted Hamilton to win, all he had to do was the same as everyone else and come in to change tyres. They went for the best position they could and gambled on it staying dry enough. It didn't work
Bear in mind Hamilton and Massa lost 47 seconds in the final sector at Spa compared to the intermediate runners!

Lol I love this countrylol
Anyways if you want my opinion the FIA and the Troll (Ecclestone) interfere just about every season in someway or another to spice it up and keep it as close to being a nail biting finish as they can. The money and the names involved dont get any bigger in the world. If they rig cricket for betting whose to say there aren't alsorts of shady deals going on behind the scenes with plenty of people being paid off or influenced? The temptations must be massive.
I also reckon that last year the FIA told Mclaren not to let Lewis win - it was too early for him - they wanted more mileage out of the young rags to riches story. Plus Ferrari needed Raikonen to win. Do you remember the race Lewis's engine cut out mysteriously and then got going again just as mysteriously?
Its ever so easy to get a conspiracy theory on the go:D

Glock & Trulli, both on slicks. Both did a 1:44 where everybody on intermediates did a 1:26. He did *NOT* let him past. End of discussion
also, you can see, he didn't lose 18 sec's in the last 3 corners, it was over the entier lap

It is plainly obvious that the Toyota team slowed their cars to let Hamilton pass and if you can't see that then your as blind as Stevie Wonder and about as much use as a one legged man in an ar$e kicking contest :thumb:
Apparently it was all going to plan until Vettle passed Hamilton and then they had to activate plan B.
End of the day, if massa wasn't "gifted" pointed by kimi, 2 weeks prior, then it wouldn't matter, as he would of won in 7th place
whats goes around come's around :)
What are you on about? Kimi didn't gift it to him. His tyres went off! I dunno some people will believe anything.

Please tell me you are kidding, right??!! Kimi let Massa by. Kimi was faster than Massa by a country mile.
And with regards to the race at Interlagos, the Toyota team tried to take a gamble by leaving their guys out on the dry tyres, hence the poor lap times. Also the reason their final sectors were slow, is because that was where the track was wettest.

The fantasy grandprix would also need Jim Clark & Fangio and would have to be round the original Nurburgring, or maybe the 1981 silverstone.
I personally can't wait for next season, the tiny wings, no ugly winglets & slicks, with the frozen engine rules, it makes for possibly the best season for many a year.... except that the teams will already be working on how to make the downforce higher than this year......
About the 'Will Lewis beat Schumacher's 7 titles???' it won't happen.
my reasons are this: Ron Dennis always gives his drivers identical cars & equal backup. Schumi was absolute no.1 & his team mate had to support him always.
When schumi went to Ferrari, he took the best technical team with him. they had more money & designed the best car each season. He was utterly dominant because nobody could get near him. when everybody caught up, he still showed brilliance, but not so much dominance.
Ross Brawn has a history of 'interesting' tactics, remember the removing bits from the nozzle at benetton..
http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/39247000/jpg/_39247005_josfireap203.jpg
I always noticed an interesting thing about some of schumi's best f1 drives, he was pretty good off the startline, but he was always able to go long on the first stint, then be devastating in the middle stint & cruise round slowly for the third stint.... my theory was this. at the time, the car was actually running light, but with loads of fuel, so it made the weight. during the race, the car is not weighed, so it ran longer to lighten it, then ran faster thru the second stint, the second pitstop was always slower, to get tons of fuel back in so he would finish the race with the right weight in.....
the above statement is my personal theory & is not based on any legally provable fact. no slander is meant or implied, just incase Ferrari's legal team are in town
ps, I think they weigh the cars dry these days (button once got disqualified because the car was 1kg under the weight when the fuel was drained.......)
Pistol Pete

With regards to your comment about Ron Dennis, he is due to step down in the not too distant future AFAIK, so we may see things change at McLaren.
Next season stands to be a very good season too IMO. The changes should make the cars look better and hopefully will close up the grid.

the rear wings are about 60% the width of the current ones, the car sort of looks like an angel fish, ie, fine from the side, but a bit thin when viewed end on...
I have a funny feeling that on monday morning, when ron woke up, he might just have decided to keep going for a wee while longer, he must have been the happiest white bloke in brazil

Oddly enough, the first F1 car I ever saw being driven in anger was Nigel Mansells red5 FW14c in the morning warmup at the 1992 belgian gp. we had walked up the hill just past eau rouge, when I heard the renault v10 screaming, looked round & saw it. absolute flat out, the most advanced f1 car ever, and in my view, the best looking.. pity both cars suffered exhaust manifold failures so they lost power, then it rained a bit & somehow Michael Schumacher won his first grandprix in the benetton ford.
I was only 7 or 8 so i dont remeber that vividly
I remember alot of travelling around to various circuits around the world, visiting daddy at work, sat on mansells knee haha!!
Met the legend ayrton a few times too in my younger years, dad went to his funeral. He was working for him at the time he died.
the day Senna died was my jfk moment. I know exactly where I was, when it was confirmed. The kneejerk reaction made cars safer, but the circuits took years to recover. Eau Rouge was made into a chicane FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cant remember where i was as i was only young. I just remember the old man just being in absolute bits.
He still has one of his helmets at home somewhere, his holy grail, heirloom kinda thing.
Cars inherently, and rather obviously became safer, and subsequently circuits also became less entertaining in some respects.
bonus points for the first driver to die that weekend on the friday?!
Roland Ratzenburger, driving a Simtek ford, head on into a barrier, snapped his neck, instant death.....
Rubens Barichello also got hospitalised during practice...
Ten points to that man
not alot of people know those facts!
what was the reason for sennas crash? steering shaft broke iirc
There isnt actually a definite answer
speculation says he lost traction due to grounding out the chassis and losing the downforce
others say a steering component failed
Pistol Pete
05-11-08, 08:00 PM
I think i am right when i say they couldnt find a cause because the car was too badly damaged??!!
No, it wasnt that badly damaged in all honesty
The steering components COULD have broken in the impact
Another theory is that prior to the incident, a number of safety car laps were completed, and some believe this led to tyre pressures dropping due to cooling down, hence reducing the grip available and also the ride height fractionally, allowing it to bottom out through tambarello
it was a massive blow to the head from a blunt object, rumoured to be suspension components, that killed him
its also rumoured he was carrying a bloodstained austrian flag in his race suit which he was to display on the parade lap at the end of the gran prix in homage to Roland Ratzenburger
the problem in italian law is that there is no such thing as an accident.. somebody always has to be at fault, or to blame for everything that happens. That is why the investigation went into great detail, but they actually couldn't find out a fault.. some people think they did this to safeguard the grand prix. imagine if a technical director or team principle was jailed for the crash, there would never be a big race in italy again
Well they tried to do frank williams and two tech directors for manslaughter!!
They also reckon the 1.6 seconds prior to impact of the video had been removed or tampered with to disprove allegations of faulty steering
ah i see. just re-read this thread and its well off topic, but its a good read!
this is an issue quite close to me, as previously stated, my dad was working for williams at the time he died.
And as a child, i met the legend himself on quite a few occasions
remember this about Senna. When he died, he was driving an f1 car harder & faster than anyone else, and he finally found the limit.
Agreed, unfortunately with fatal consequences.

Amen to that.
I remember driving to Didcot with my mates and one of their dads to put flowers on the gate. His dad was a huge F1 fan, even had a pic of his son walking down the pits sharing a brolly with Prost.
My fave moment EVER in F1:

Yep, you definately wouldnt, as he even managed to get is right leg inside the cockpit with Mansell!
Those were the glory days IMHO!

not forgetting the health and safety brigade would probably lock both of them up for gross negligence or some other crap.

ok, spa it is, but I'd love to give them all 1992 williams FW14c's
Oddly enough, the first F1 car I ever saw being driven in anger was Nigel Mansells red5 FW14c in the morning warmup at the 1992 belgian gp. we had walked up the hill just past eau rouge, when I heard the renault v10 screaming, looked round & saw it. absolute flat out, the most advanced f1 car ever, and in my view, the best looking.. I had an all body shudder, the hairs stood up on my neck. I was stood at my first grandprix & I was utterly intoxicated by the spectacle.
*geek alert* was it not the fw14b? Think they used the "c" in 93 but it jumped to the fw15c for some reason
