i have a problem with my rear disk conversion fitted to my car due to the offset of the rear axle the passengers side wheel hits the arch but the drivers side is ok i was wondering if it is possible to get the spacer machined down a couple of mm

unless I'm not reading this right, your conversion hasn't been done properly. If so, I'd find out what else is wrong before simply adjusting it to fit.

it shouldn't be 'offset'
