Basicly i want a bigger alt as you can tell from previous threads...

I'm now more close to sorting it out and want to know which cavalier alt is the biggest where it's got the same belt aswell so it will just swap reet over without any extra brackets etc...??

Thanks.

Make sure the bottom bracket fitment is the same.

I have a nova gsi alternator on my xe, so most should swap over. As long as there single v belt

I just* exchanged an old and possibly faulty low output one for a rebuilt 70A one at a local motor factors for about £40 notes with 1 year warranty.

*as in literally, not as in 5 minutes ago.

100amps to power an install, your doing it all wrong, if its that big, another battery, split charge system, or just even a power cap lol

What is the system you are trying to power? i.e what equipment you got.

I fitted a 70amp single V alternator from a Cav SRi straight swap 30min job, good enough to power sub, amp, rear components, door components, dash speakers and tweeters no dimming even with rear heated screen and headlamps on (no powercap)

Unless you have a 1.21 gigawatts of soundsystem then the most you might need in addition is a powercap.

Sorted what am doing now...

ok...

Optima yellow or red top battery - running 2 kicker 15 inch subs at 1 ohm each then 2 1 ohm stable amps for them subs... then 2 kicker amps for 2 sets of components. i'll leave the alternator for now but i think 70 amps will do just fine... which is 91 quid brand new.

Mate just get yourself the 70amp alternator, get yourself a good power cap. When the engine is running its all down to the alternator. With the powercap installed it will store power for when you get the heavy bass going.

Even if you got a 50amp batt when the engine is running a good alternator will have it sorted.
