More like the blue/yellow wire on the sender has broke/come off the sender.
Assuming you have the big 2pin sender fitted and not a single switch.

yes you might have wired it to the switch instead. or it could be broken.

most likely broken.
Mine goes off the gauge but does come back down when you lift off.
