Sorted the garage and gave it much needed sweep out for it stay in!

Plans are to tidy up a couple of little bits on the bodywork and just keep it clean. Thinking of doing a Sport rep with it so may start collecting parts for that soon.
Never seen a Ski model before so it would be cool to see a few pics of other Ski's if anyones got any??? I'm tempted just to leave it as a Ski! :tard:
Let me know what you think...
Cheers,
Matt

Omg, that's an minter! Never heard of a 'ski' model either. You should raise suspension at the back, lower the front.. Then when driving, you'd look like the guy on the back lol!
Am i right in thinking that engine in the garage will soon be going in?

All I can remember is you got an Astra & Nova Ski, the reason for the name is unknown to me, but they were higher spec'd models, although looking at this it's only got a rear wrap around spolier, other than that, looks just like a Merit or GL.

PM Duick to see if he'll scan the brochure for you.

wow, thats really clean - nice find..
As for the SKI model, imo it just looks like a normal merit, with the the addition of SR wrap-around spoiler and those funky stickers!
Am i right in thinking that engine in the garage will soon be going in?
No, that's for my brothers GSi project.

Any gen on the reson for the SKi?
Maybe the mechanics at vauxhall when building it, knew they were all going to rust fast eventually, so it would be all downhill from then on. lol
Mint car you have there. Don't spoil it and keep it plain and simple imo :thumb:
lol I couldnt resist. I know a **** shop but meh. We were all thinking it.

Where do you lot pick these minters up from?! I want one!
In fairness, its so mint. Mate, you got a stunner. Please dont take offense to the pic, i just had to but, yeah stick a Snow Plough on it and slam it onto its **** and even keep the 13" wheels and trims. Maybe fit spacers and make them sit out a bit though.
Cheers Dod.
Your 'shop is rather amusing aswell btw. :D

Wow one seriously dam clean nice car, i would love to buy a clean small block nova like this, really want this old ladies Jamaican yellow SR,but think she's still driving it about.
Good luck with it what ever you do.
Scott
Awesome find Mate.
It wouldn't take much to make a decent Sport Rep, a private 'C' registration wouldn't cost the earth and you have all the Mk1 bits including the right rear bumper :-)

awesomely clean, top find.. as white as a sheet.
looks really nice - A Ski though?
Think Vauxhall lost it a bit with the logo on the back - I can see a chav drawing a poo behind the skiers bum!
Did a bit with the car today. Just gave it a proper clean and went looking for any rust. Didn't find anything to worry about though :D ...

if this was my car i wouldnt change a thing on it. just keep it as clean as it is and attend all the shows with possible the only ski model. it looks absolutly mint.
however, its not mine. its yours, so do what you want with it :) would be good to see a WIP of it...
Keep it a ski!!!! I would usually say fook it, its just another mint shell, modify it. but I think thats too rare to be messed with.
Maybe reversible modifications? E.g. alloys, springs?
Any updates with this?
I'll put a WIP thread up over Christmas! The car is due back from the bodyshop on Tuesday (don't worry, has just had a few minor touch-ups and the arches rolled). Have had a set of MO's refurbed in Polar White to match the car and aquired some Gaz coilovers. Got some V6 brakes lined up too and after that I'll just be looking to keep it clean. Considering getting a mint GTE interior for it just to make it a bit more comfortable and maybe a snowplough bumper but nothing that can't be reversed.

might see the car about sometime..i am not that far away, dumfries. where in cumbria do you stay?
Yeah I saw the MOs in your avatar so thought i'd ask, tbh its looks spot on as it is. Bigger brakes and coilovers should make it a sweet little car. :thumb:

There used to be one of these near mine but it had dif decals?
Looks really well in the ps pic. I saw it on pistonheads some time ago and was tempted to go have a look myself however I never got round to it, Looks like I missed a good one :(
Looking good mate, I'd paint those anodized centre caps though, they look a bit out of place....?
Dec
Thanks again for all the comments! The car should be pretty much how I want it by the new year where I can then get it MOT'd and back on the road. I'll make sure to take pleanty of pics to show what I've been up to.

Hmmm, not sure about them atm. I've got a new set of the anodized caps and new Comp stickers to go on the wheels when their back. I think they'll probably look quite cool but at least I know I can easily change/ remove 'em if I want.
:thumb:
You can get Silver Comp centre caps direct from the factory for like £20 per set of 4.
Yeah I had a set of the plastic Silver ones from Comp but they were a naff fit and just kept popping out when the rim was fitted! I know you can get the alloy ones in Silver too but will just stick with the blue un's for now as they should look good with the matching decals :tard: . If not I'll just send them back to Comp and get them swopped.
It's all these little touches that make the difference!
