Is it generally just enough to remove the effect of the warp?

so like 10 microns?

i want to do it to increase compresion

you have to measure the deflection then work out how much to remove. im sure an engineer such as yourself will have a suitable engineering degree that would qualify you to carry out this simple calculation

Hello ppl im lookin at skimming my head of my 1.2 k reg. I just dont know how much to take off.
Is it worth it for a 1.2?
Why? What else are you doing to the engine?

yes but i thought some1 would no already and save my the hassle

A bigger engine would save you a lot of unneccessary hassle

then you must factor this into your calculation as the increased lift and reduced combustion chamber size will result in bent valves for you!!lol

There is only 1! Did you buy your engineering degree of the net?

what the **** is your problem you prick?
Its one of those things, if you need to ask then you shouldnt be doing it.
And the fact that a k reg 1.2 nova is an 8v thus having only one cam i would be intrested to see where you are going to insert the 2nd cam (awaits the reply up your ass).
So by the sheer fact you have needed to ask the question and that you dont know anything about an engine. you should leave it to someone who does know.

How ****ing negative are you guys....!?
Dont mod a 1.2.
Pay someone to do it for you.
Dont learn things.
I cant offer you any advice on the amount to skim, but as 1.2 heads are 2 a penny why not just crack on, or just leave it and fit the cams. any performance would be negliable so you might want to consider other options. (maybe c14se head, or porting and polishing.)

ben i did say what i wanted. i just asked if anyone knows how much to skim off my head. you come back straight away with dont do it yourself give it to someone else. so thanks for your help.
Well you didnt explin very well, the normal idea of someone on hear skimming there head is with a plane or grinding wheel. And yes they do try it!

ok so its a missunderstandin. im new on here i dont wana piss ppl off i just needed a lil advice.
and really a grinding wheel?
To be honest going back to the topic in general, I personally think you can improve the performance easily enough without having to go down the skimming route, its a lot of hassle for small gains and chance of ****ing up etc, do a search for Stu's blown 1.2 guide for more details as he went right into it.
try here its his mini site...

haha i win lol
also steer well clear of the 1.3 crank and rods mod as you will have a mega hard time finding them im starting to believe they were never made
you can easily take a good mm off. on the 1300 heads we use for autograss they have 2mm off.
I have 1300 cranks rods for sale, PM me for more info.
