Bought one of these the other day, just wondering has any one ever had any problems with them. The only problem with mine is the engine management light is on permanently, and it limits the revs to 5000rpm even though the redline line is at 7000rpm, anyone know why this might be? It will eventually get booked in to Vaux , but if i knew what it was i would rather get someone local to fix it without paying vaux 70 quid to tell me whats wrong.:wtf:

Ah Ecotec. Mmmmmmm, they're notorious for that kinda thing, its typically a sensor on the engine that dies, I cant remember which but the Crank springs to mind.

You done the Paper Clip test on it?

Yeah its in limp mode, could be knock, crank ro cam sensor. In my experience usually crank stops it from running completely but have known them just put into limp.

I would say Knock.

Also EGR's on them are sh!te andput into limp.

Is that the 2.5 V6 eco? My dad had one and crank sensor was a nightmare on it, rarely ran right.

TBH its all the ecotecs, they are good engines and the mechanicals are pretty sound just sensor issues are common.

Can pick up second hand pnes on ebay for about £5 each and new anything from £25-80 depeniding if you get them from vaux or copies.

We were kinda lucky that it broke down entirely, my dad was about to sell it as a barely running sh!tter, AA bloke came out, recognised the engine, wiped the sensor with a rag, and it ran perfectly for a few weeks til we sold it lol
