how much dose you striped out nova weigh obviously with a engine and other running gear installed lol

Spudly
30-10-08, 10:01 AM
Depends on what engine, box, fuel system, any remaining seats, how much fuel is in the tank, screenwash if any, coolant and how much you actually strip out, go weigh something in at local scrappies and take it in your nova.
You get weighed in and out so when you leave you will know how much it weighs:thumb:

lol rexy just asks the scrappers if he can weigh his car , lol and they always let him haha

30-10-08, 10:09 AM
Furry muff or you could just do that, i think mikey14SR did that with his old errr 1.4SR lol

Was around 900kg iirc, standardish SR with stripped out rear and standard fronts if that helps!

30-10-08, 10:15 AM

Pistol Pete
30-10-08, 10:17 AM
Olly may have weighed his? I know in his WIP he showed the weights of his windows etc. Not sure if he has weighed his car yet?!

Sure I read in Haynes that a Nova weighs 760 KG ish as standard, thought it was a little light, not a lot to em though. *Goes to check it out again*

Welsh Dan
30-10-08, 10:21 AM
Olli and Olly have both put up the weights of their cars in their project threads.

burgo
30-10-08, 10:32 AM
i had my bog standard 1.2 loon merit weighed and its bang on haynes figures. 760kgs

turbojolt
30-10-08, 10:34 AM

Thats for poverty spec though. Start adding things like spoilers, CL, alloys (depending on what they are of course), bigger engines etc and things get a lot heavier.

Pistol Pete
30-10-08, 11:09 AM
Near a ton for an xe'd track Nova?

Welsh Dan
30-10-08, 11:19 AM
Olly Hewitts is 878KG according to his cornerweighting session. (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showpost.php?p=890253&postcount=1121)

DHDEV Oli's is 660kg without driver. (http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showpost.php?p=553395&postcount=84)

Pistol Pete
30-10-08, 11:36 AM
lol, nowhere near on ton! Thats some weight saving gone on there then.

burgo
30-10-08, 11:49 AM
i dont get how ollys can be so heavy

Welsh Dan
30-10-08, 11:53 AM
I think it includes the 110kg of ballast that they put in to represent him, which would take the car itself down to around 770KG and at the time he wasn't using any fibreglass panels.

burgo
30-10-08, 11:56 AM
now that would make sence

Dar

dhdev (Oli)
30-10-08, 02:56 PM
As stated by Welsh Dan (Cheers!) mine is sub 660kgs, that's with seam-welding, strengthening kit and full cage. I would love to get it down to sub 600kgs but I think the cost would be too high :(

When I worked for Jewsons I stopped at a weighbridge on my way to Hull one day, IIRC mine was 805kg with me sat in. That was a 1.4SR engined stripped Nova Van.

EDIT - I weigh 12st so however many kg's that is!

That suggests to me that the difference between an XE and baby XE is 70kgs, seeing as Nathans spec is almost identical to mine

Adam
31-10-08, 06:21 PM
Hmm, theres no way its 90kilo difference.

dhdev (Oli)
31-10-08, 06:22 PM
I edited as I thought Nathan had said 750, when he actually said 730kgs - So 70kgs difference

Adam
31-10-08, 06:25 PM
70kg is a HUGE amount.
Id guestimate half that, if that

70kg that like having me in the car, honest lol

BRoadGhost
31-10-08, 06:30 PM
70 Kilos could be the difference in corrosion

Adam

70kg that like having me in the car, honest lol
And the rest :p lol

dhdev (Oli)
31-10-08, 06:31 PM
Without going through every individual component, the only major differences are Battery (Mines a small redtop) -7kgs, and FG bonnet so probably another 5-7kgs saved. Still makes a 56kg difference

Adam
31-10-08, 06:32 PM
Nath/Oli-Do you know what your seats weigh?

How much fuel was in the car when weighed??

dhdev (Oli)
31-10-08, 06:32 PM
70 Kilos could be the difference in corrosion

Corrosion would make it lighter, so seeing as mine doesn't know what tin worm is, that makes the difference even greater :p

Nath/Oli-Do you know what your seats weigh?

The only weigh this will get settled is if someone gets an XE with box and puts them on some scales and also a baby XE with box at the same time :thumb:

Adam
31-10-08, 06:37 PM
I could get my car weighed now, with the baby in.
And then get it weighed again with the 20xe in......
Making sure fuel level etc is the same.

Only problem is there no friendly weighbridges round here

nathan.

Not sure what they weigh Adam! They are very light.
I also have a lightwieght battery.

Pun intended? :p lol lol lol

nathan.
31-10-08, 06:54 PM
I'd say a 2.0 XE would weigh about 30-40kg more than a baby XE with the boxes fitted.
Also i think Olly has done a few more lightweight mods than me, ie: rear floor cut out, lighter wheels etc. So the figures are proberly about right.

burgo
31-10-08, 08:21 PM
i might weigh an f20 and f13 to see the difference in them as i can carry an f13 in one hand but struggle to carry the f20 full stop

Dar
31-10-08, 09:18 PM
IIRC Aragon weighed a XE with an F20 & a small engine with a F10 and the difference was 35kg.

It wasn't HUGE.

dhdev (Oli)
31-10-08, 10:02 PM
Adam - yes it was intended ;)

Nathan - I probably have done a few kgs more of little mods, wheels however are heavy as fook, I could probably save well over10kgs by swapping them maybe even as high as 16kgs

You've made me think now.. I was man handling an F20 From a 2.0DTi and it was a heavy old bastid! The F13 is easy to carry by comparisson
