help needed with avo coilovers

i bought and fitted a set of avo coilovers to my car...
the back sits on the tyre at the back and just above the tyre on the front...

problem is......

no matter how soft i set the dampers the car would make your teeth fall out its sooooooo.....bouncy???

anyone ideas wot may cause this??

Soft damping = bouncy ride (but comfy)
hard damping = skittish/crashy ride (but good grip in some situations)

Whats the travel like when its on the floor? As it sounds like you have it too low for the springs supplied and its battering the bumpstops making it seem crashy

The ride on mine is quite crashy
But grips great on smooth roads/track.

It didnt used to be crashy till i fitted shorter springs.

theres no give at all and was told to either get shorter springs or cut the bump stops....

should i cut the bump stops....will it take the mad bouncing out of it?

if i get the shorter springs.. will it take the mad bouncing out of it?

Have a look in the wheel arches and see how much travel is there inbetween the top mount and the shock body. What length springs have you got fitted?

you can feel every bump on the road!!!

you nearly have to brace youself ifyou go over a manhole!!haha

Bouncy is when you "bob" along when going over a slight bump

i mean as you drive downa more or less flat road your head is continuaslly bobing....

does that explian any easier?

damping is too soft....

I can get the vx to "bob" along even with springs twice as stiff as OEM, but with little to no damping lol

Gotta love internet forum diagnosis.

I swerve for potholes on any suspension setup, it's always a bad experience.

Damping is too hard IMO, if i wack my avo adjustable rear shocks up to 24, then it feels like i have no suspension on rear, the back end just skips all over the place. I find 6-7 is fine for road use, and 10-14 is fine for hard use.

I'm with Stuart on this one.

My avo's were soft and bouncy but although it seems back to front having them on around 3/4 hard made the ride much better. Obviously, you don't want to hitting big bumps and manhole covers but thats a gimme really on any lowered car.

What level do you have your dampers set on??
How much travel do you have left when the car is on the ground, take some pics if you can.

Fronts were down to top of tyre and rear was done so car was level, have run lower in the past tho.

Rears were set around half stiffness iirc and fronts 3/4 stiff. I was running 300lbs front springs because of tubo & f28.

found out today i was given the wrong springs for the coilovers....

the wrong spring part number is e9350

just if anyone else may have problems...

They are 9" 350lb springs

Standard avo are 8inch, 300s iirc.

E8300

standard are 250 i think as i swear it was 300 i upgraded too.
