They've always been crazy over here, reaching 5k for a minimal example but they seem to be heightening in the UK as well.

Discuss.

I'm guessing here, but maybe as alot may have been scrapped/crashed over the years, the ones that are left are valued more hence the price going up?!

Smaller cars in general are going up in price because of the petrol prices and general economy fail, older cars is also going to be the cheapest way to tax larger engines soon. And they're now much cooler and less often found with fibreglass tat on them than before lol

I don't think that counts for Novas, as tbh most people still think they're turds.

Its mainly to do with availability tbh. 5 years ago, there were hundreds of rot free 1.2's at £100 each. Now you'd be lucky to find one rusty one, and minters command more in the region of £1000+

Had a look on Autotrader earlier. 5 Novas nationally. lol

Most I've paid for a nova is £300, but you can tell lol.
My latest one is probably the best one condition wise and I got that for 223 quid.
Was just saying the other day that 5 years ago I would go to the scrappy and there would be around 8 or 9 nova's in there with regular rotation and plenty of GTE's and GSi's etc etc. There has been 2 this entire year and both been 5 door poverty spec ones.
Its corsas that have replaced the amount of novas.
Shame as it used to be a really good money maker! lol

I paid £1500 for mint SR back in 2004 lol

Same with 205 GTi's. A mint, standard one will fetch upto £5k with ease now!

I do see where your coming from. But couple of months back i bought my mk2 mint base model for £100. There are still some around but its finding the ones worth buying. I myself know of 4 nova's for sale around here, mostly rotten, which as the scrap is down so much now are worthless.

Corsas will become popular as well, but never as much as the Nova, look at the box type Civics for an example.

I have 8 Novas now and never spent anymore than €300 each and to be fair they're all very decent examples, but resale on them is Crazy. I was offered €3000 for my 33k Nova and turned it down. In good nick and a decent order they make 5k over here all day, and thats not big block items either.

You should try buying one over here, a good one is almost impossible to get, I looked at countless ones and had to give up in the end!!! And the cheapest one I looked at was 4.5k!!!!!lol

As for Nova prices, if it really is a "mint" car then it's worth 3k+++ all day long!! I know what the price is to get a decent one to "mint" condition and £3,000 wouldn't hardly put a hole in it!!

They're silly prices on pistonheads... I wouldn't even know where to look these days apart from local papers/eBay and the Vauxhall sites?
