View Full Version : what engine would you have?
Ok folk got a bit of i dilema here, been offered an engine from a mate of mine, but i dont really know what direction to go in, so would like some input for you lot.
So i already have a c16xe, what will be rebuilt totally standard but running R1 carbs and megajolt ecu and thats it.
Or my mate has a freshly rebuilt 2.1 xe with standard cams but worked head but not sure on whats been done , he did say but i cant remember, again with the R1 carbs and megajolt.
Any pros/ cons, its going to be a weekend toy, track etc :thumb:
depends on money, xe will be more torquey/quicker
as its from a mate, im getting engine, for 500
it depends on what youre after.
might be £500 notes but whats the running costs like compared to the other one? if theyre similar (and sinsurance aint much different) then go bigger.
If its for the track - go bigger!

XE will be quicker but if its for track id choose the small block personally, power-weight is better and should technically be more suited to that sort of work.

Small block FTW :D
all dependant on insurance imo
power-weight is better
Probably the same, if not slightly in the 2.0's favour IMO.
I'd go big block, especially for that price.
Insurance price aint any problem, Im thinking about the xe seeing as i have never owned one, and as i said its for track, sprints etc

Std XE, fully serviced & maintained with a Grp-N ECU chip & spend the proper money on handling & suspension components.
[edit] If you do decide the smallblock, consider weight saving purchases to make up for the torque defecit.
Cheers Craig, This is the current state of play with my car the moment http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94997, Will be running BillStein suspension that came off of shaun o donnels saloon.
