bin the text typing or you get put in the sin bin.

The 1.6 engine must have a 1.2/1.3/1.4 flywheel on it to permit the use of the F10. Are you 100% sure its an F10/4speed?

Have a look on the top of the gearbox, near the selector turret and see what F number is cast in. Or look on the end of box to see if there is a sodding great nut on there. If its got the nut then its a 4speed for sure.

5-Speed, ignore the red ring:

4-Speed:

If you've got a 5-speed but can't get fifth you will need to re-allign the gear linkage using the drill bit method from the Haynes manual.

Hmm... assuming its a converted car, as you say a nova with a 1.6 engine?

I'll bet the lug hasn't been cut off round by the gear lever. Stops the lever from moving to the 5th gear position :thumb:

cant put a 4speed on a gsi engine...

the 4 speed uses a smaller flywheel which you cannot fit on the gsi engine because then the starter motor would not fit at all. and also the larger gsi flywheel wont fit inside the 4speed bell housing...

There is a way to put a 4speed in..... if you felt deftly homosexual.

Take the F13 casing, put F10/4speed guts inside it.... et voila. one 4spd 1.6
