I have been thinking of making my nova 4x4 i was thinking of just extending the rear arches and place all of the cavalier running gear into the rear of the car. I was then thinking of just treating the front of the car just the same as a 2.0 16v conversion. Leaving the only problem of the length of the main drive shaft and the channel that the driveshaft runs up any ideas. I have been told in the past that there was a company that once done this has anyone the name and address/phone number for this company.
go back a few pages and the 4x4 debate will reappear
hope your rich cos you wont be afterwards

I'd advise getting an old V8 landrover and taking off the body (which is easy)
Then somehow attach a Nova shell to it,
You'd end up with a LANDNOVA
3.5 litre V8
Possibility of 19" wheels
4wd
Ablility to wade in 5ft of water
Mount kerbs at 20mph
Plenty of funny looks
Why bother :?:

You'd end up with a LANDNOVA
OR - you could end up with a NOVAROVER...
or a NOLANDROVA

Why? Becasue you can!
propshafts are the easy bit, just get the local truck dealer to tell you who mends theirs, and get them to shorten & balance it. BUT once you have got the prop in place, where is the chimney going to fit, oh & the handbrake assy, & the gear linkage & the fuel tank...... I think this one is the holy grail of novas, Sid Meake Motorsport(in Ulster) once did a Corsa for rallying.
I think the best thing is to either cut & shut a cava 4x4 floorpan to suit, or just get a LSD for the F20 gbox.
Think about this, if you fit a 16v lump, 2/3 of the weight is over the front wheels, why would you need to get rear drive?
I would love to see one done though.
Cheers

Yes well at the end of the day you have to talk security.
Sliding windows and a starter handle under the bonnet (if your stupid enough to leave it there)
Cheap to insure though, 'cough' 55mph tops 'cough'

Good point. Not exactly ideal for a bank job
Why is it that every time a 4x4 Nova question appears, somebody always says 'stick it on a landrover chassis'????????
the Landrover is a lot wider, the bits would be murder to fit, it would look like one of those battery jeeps in the Argos book, and would be about as fast.
surely on of the jap 4x4's would be a better proposal, ie. the IFS daihatsu fourtrak short wheelbase, or heaven forbid, the suzuki rhino, or stick a couple of box sections under the shell and hang the axles on that.
I still like the idea of the pushme/pull you twin engined concept.

Why a landrover chassis? Becasue you can so many things to a landrover!
I know the width problems, but the lightweight I talked about earlier is based on a Series l, which isn't that much wider.
My idea of a 4x4 Nova is something going up a mountain, not burning around a circuit.
