I wouldnt go to that high k a they will be very pinky purpley.
800k is the highest you want really, i run them and they have a really clean blue light.
And you can get them much cheaper!

Yup
They are mint :D
If anyone gets a set, stick between 4800k-8000k. Anything higher than 8000 looks a bit chav, and doesn't produce that much useable light.
Mine are 6000s

pinky purple sounds cool but i might go for 8k from what adam said about usable light but standard is like a candle anyway

only single beam arnt they ?
plus what size bulbs are novas ? h4's ?

Mine are 6000s
Have a word, mine are 8k and are fantastic. Give out a great light and more light than 6k( abit in a corsa)
Adam, pics of the beam pattern?
Diane-shop are the ones people usually get, usually via ebay.au depending on whichever has the best currency conversion.
I got my dipped beam (6000K) from a UK seller, paid a lot for them but they are spot on. Perfect white light, excellent pattern, warm up very quick. Also came with english instructions and battery harness.
Main beam (also 6000K) are diane-shop ebay cheapos, no battery harness, take longer to warm up, crap instructions and emit a very purple light, almost like 8000K.
I wouldn't trust the rotating jobbies, hence why I'm sticking with my Irmscher panel for HIDs at some point.
Benn, the bluer the light, the darker the output. I would say the 6000K's you're comparing to are poop then as a decent 6000K WILL be brighter than a decent 8000K.
Why will they? Never heard of the bluer the darker...
Got mine from nickyboy on mig, They where from the us.. from japan..lol
All in english, full wiring loom, everything needed to use, warm up quicky.
Very good, hi/low kit.. but they wont click on anymore to high, think the relay (huge one) has stoped working (after a year+)

the higher the k rating the less light, lumin, it actually emits. k rating is the colour temperature 6500k - 8000k being very close to pure white. I will soon be doing the same.
My headlamps are awesome even with my decent philips halogens but the HID effect is calling my name.
Seen some real nice uk ebay items for around 60quid, Bi-Xenon with a slim ballast.
edit. oops just read RJ's post and looks like I've written what he's said... FAIL lol
Never heard that before. Just though the K rating was all to do with the temp.
Benn-Side by side pics, 6000k gives out more light than 8000k(8000 is just about when the light is starting to get into the blue range)
Most OE cars fitted with hids have 4800k or thereabouts

6k FTW.
I'm looking for a set soon.
Jack-Re: the beam pattern
I'll soon find out how legal they are when mine goes for mot in 2 week lol
But the pattern isn't as good as standard bulbs, bits of light tend to get thrown "out" from the normal pattern. But no ones ever flashed me or anything to say there bliding them.... So all is good

yeh K is the colour temp. higher the colour temp the bluer/purpler the light becomes but less light is actually given hence why Im likely to go for 6500k.
Either way though they look sexy and actually give out light. Im currently driving around in my wifeys Yaris and it has horrid cheapo bulbs that look very yellow.. yuck

Oh right, didnt know that at all. But then again i got them for the clean, clear white/blue light...
Ad you might just pass, i set mine up onthe light machine and thy are at the right level. But the patton is a bit all over the place..
Gonna remember the bulbs make the patton.. but nova glass does.. so theres two pattons so its a bit all over the show.

Generally everyone says that. Fingers crossed at MOT, worst case scenario; spare pair of H4's in the glove box?
Mine are set quite low... Prob a bit too low now, only get flashed if i'm out on dark back roads..
Yeah, if there a problem at mot time i'll switch back to std bulbs. 2second job

Mine(now Adams) vs my old philips "+50% brightness halogens", in my mates mk3 golf:

Well worth it. I'm tempted by 1 or 2 sets for the mundano, but I'd be more tempted by a 4300k kit for the extra visibility over the 'white light' effect.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270283708840 so is the kit above any good ?, i saw these bulbs on ebay was thinking about grabing a set and they come with the side light bulbs ?

You want a high/low kit, so you have main and dipped beam.
Second link are just lighly colour blue bulbs.. with a bit a bit whiter than normal onews but nothing special.

Agreed, i have just a low beam kit 6000k and its uber bright but my headlights are lined up via our beam aim checkery thing on the mot ramp at work and on dark back roads i do miss my high beam as the low beam doesnt quite illuminate far enough down the road for my liking, but for everything else theyre spot on (and even though mine are lined up properly you always get the odd one or two puddins flashing at you as they think theyre too bright)
On dark b-roads, hi beam hids is
Rub it in why dont ya lol
Im gonna get the bi-xenon kit eventually (when im out of the penniless hole im in atm)
ive been thinking about getting a kit for mine for quite a while now, just need to get my **** into gear to get one haha
Yep yep thats why i'm buying a new kit, as my relay has stoped working.

Isn't the bi-xenon the dipped-HID, main-Halogen one?

Relay as in the ballast? Or relay as in the OEM headlamp relay?

No Jack, the Bi-Xenon ones have the solenoid in to move the bulb within itself for main beam.

No they have a relay box. Its before the ballasts. The solenoids are mounted to the back of the bulb.
Relay in mounted under the headlight... The older ones are huge, new ones are much smaller.
Ballasats are on the front.

To legally have a xenon kit, don't you HAVE to have headlamp washers? Every car that has xenons from a manufactuer will have washers.

Yes and self (brake with in a week of leaving the factory) leveling headlights.
So how are you guys getting through MOTs? Or do they not check that?
I unplug them for mots. But most tester wont check things like headlight washers and self leveling.
Thats why i'm getting a new kit.

Bit of a vulnerable place there Benn. Prone to knocks and water I would have thought.
What the ballast?
Nah look where it is, it sits perfectly behind the bumper iron thats why i put it there, safely out of the way.. All hidden, and they are waterproof.
Nova_Tek

Yeh noticed it was behind the bumper reinforcment, suppose if theres no other place to fit them then its the next best area, unless you're involved in a bit of a prang.
Didnt know they were waterproof. Are they deffo water tight or just water resistant?
Water tight, they need to be as they are in the engine bay.
Mine are mounted in the same place as Benn's(thats where i stole the idea from lol )
unless you're involved in a bit of a prang.
TBH if I drove into something hard enough to damage the ballast there, the state of the ballast would be the last thing I'd be worried about.
They're cheap enough to replace anyway.

I stripped mine down, they're sealed and filled with potting compound. The only vulnerable part is the terminals, mine had a poor seal on the plug.

The plugs on mine have those nice rubber rings on the plug so when they are pluged in thet have a nice seal..

Mine had those, but the terminals still corroded. I lopped the plugs off, cleaned up the terminals, put spades on the wires then sealed the whole lot with dielectric grease.
