1 wingmirror as its so old...only needed one from factory. Doesn't have rear seat belts either! lol

Plans are as follows, uprate the speakers, put my sub in it, put on either 15 or 16" irmcsher softstars, get coilovers and lower it like 60mm, get a full exhaust system + manifold, get a standard sr/gte front bumper + grill, get the top repainted polar white, bumpers painted matt black in a textured finish, orange stripe put back (if i can find new ones) and new SR vinyl and think thats pretty much all (that i can remember atm anyway) and then basically concentrate on the engine, twin 40s, new cam and so on :thumb:

If you change to a GTE/SR front, baby jesus will cry. However if you do i'll take your old bumper and grill :)

Please dont put gte front on it, it will ruin its retro looks, see my page for inspiration! V V V V

My b-reg yellow sr was the same when I got it, all std besides gte alloys, glad that when I crashed it, it didnt have the snowplough front on!

Like the rest of the plans though, twin carbs will sound sweet on that!

Don't you dare change that front bumper.

Those astra gte wheels in white would suit it perfectly on a 60mm drop.

Everytime i go out to the car i keep thinking the front end looks better with it but i'm guna stick to my original plans. I'm not selling the snow plough, i want it white and black and don't want to get the plough sprayed. Guna keep it in my garage and if i decide i want it back on i will - i've had the vision in my head of how it will look for so long so wana bring it to life! Think it would look good with it slammed with the plough on though, thats why i'm keeping it so i could compare when it's been lowered.

Don't you dare change that front bumper.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

Leave the snowplough on :D

Hopefully have my J plate looking something like that in the near future, GSi front end first, then when im bored, on goes the snowplough mk1 front ;)

John
26-10-08, 09:50 PM
I sincerely hope this doesn't get ruined.

novacabrio
26-10-08, 09:53 PM
you can tell its your first Nova, probably your last as you'll be getting hate mail soon, Razor blades in post etc. Glad you live so far away or i'd have to come slap you if you fit a GTE bumper. Go buy a later spec SR homo, Dan by name Dann (flashbang) by nature lol (Sorry flashbang if you read this, I know you liek snow ploughs)

Dan_Coombs
26-10-08, 09:54 PM
I'm jus really unsure about the front end tbh! I'm jus guna get the bumper and grill and jus test it out, see what i think. I'm doing it to my own taste nobody elses. So i'll decide what i like best. :)

And i don't think it's going to get ruined...it's basically guna be kept standard looking just have an sr front end instead of the snow plough.

John
26-10-08, 09:57 PM
Can't fault you for that fella, but your gonna get differing opinions on your taste!

Southie
27-10-08, 12:59 PM
Noooooooooo don't change the front pleeeeease ;)

For the love of MK1's lol

This car is mint dont change the front end!:thumb:

Steve
27-10-08, 01:39 PM
I think everyone is going to say this throughout the thread! Seriously though, an original early sr is even rarer than a sport, it just wont be right with a gte front!

Dan_Coombs
27-10-08, 06:37 PM
I wouldn't get rid of the snowplough, i want to have it white + black. And i doubt you guys would want me to spray the plough...

SKoob
27-10-08, 07:12 PM
put some bumper gel on it then?

General Baxter
27-10-08, 07:19 PM
SELL ME THAT BUMPER lol

£80 + a night with stu :)

Dan_Coombs
27-10-08, 07:32 PM
I have no idea about anything to do with bodywork at all! So wtf is bumper gel?

If you guys show me some pics of snowploughs that you really like then it might change my mind. And any ways of getting the bumpers black without spraying them...give me hints and i'll decide then :)

Would be helpful to me! And if you guys don't want me to change the bumper then it would be in your interest lol

bumper gel is a product made by auto glym , it brings bumpers back to there natural colour , its a better longer lasting version of son of a gun by stp . and yes keep the snowplough .

as mentioned before snowplough is a rare find and an A reg SR would look WRONG with a GTE end on it.

My SR has a gte end (factory) but the car would so much better suite the plough - its more angled and fits the car better.

Bumper gell is good but tbh you cannot beat smooth peanut butter! 34p - Asda - try it and BE AMAZED! It really restores the bumpers - takes the crud off them. Works on Vynil too.

Speaking of which I'm getting some replacement vynil made up for the SR - keep an eye out in General in coming weeks...

By no means am i saying spray yours black like mine, but i have two snowploughs, one original and this one on the car. gives you and idea of a snowplough with a 60mm drop.

What colour black is the front bumper in that picture mate? I would like to keep it standard but i'm just really undecided atm! I do love the look of them, like yours looks brilliant! Hmm, very confused...might give it ago at just bringing the bumper back to standard colour + rear, see how it comes out!

Where do you get the vauxhall badge for the front? Cause mines a lil warn lol

Dan_Coombs
27-10-08, 11:26 PM
Oh and steve i remember seeing yours ages ago and thats what made me fall in love with the plough...just now i've got one just not sure how to go lol

Simon 1867
27-10-08, 11:29 PM
The black is just gloss black from halfords, did this to match the doors. Also had to do a small repair on the plough so thought it may go well black.

My badge was worn and all i did was take it off and with a steady hand paint it back on with sliver paint.

I know what you mean about keeping it standard, thats why i have keeped my other one standard. on a shelf in the garage.( would love a brown saloon with a snowplough personnely.

Southie

Well here is mine with the snowplough.

http://i345.photobucket.com/albums/p379/SOUTHIE01/IMG_0155smaller.jpg

If it gets any colder and the gritters don't get out in time i'm going to need it this winter lol

Dan_Coombs
28-10-08, 07:10 PM
Well i'm guna keep the plough, you've convinced me lol
I've just ordered my exhaust system so should be on the nova in the next few days :D Ashley performance one :)

Next up, coilovers + alloys.

Steve
28-10-08, 07:27 PM
My old 1.6 8v responded well to a free flowing exhaust and a 4 branch manifold.
The old 8vs seem to like them. :thumb:

So then afer a little while of me not posting up any progress on here thought it was about time i let you see how things are going! :)

Well my exhaust system arrived a while ago. Been fitted and you could tell a little difference i think! Guna have another look at it tomorrow cause it sounds like it's blowing a little bit + it's virbrating on the chassis. I haven't got any pics of the exhaust on the car though cause i haven't taken any!

Weeknd after i fitted my exhaust i stripped out the car and cleaned it from top to bottom inside. My dad offered to help cause he loves cleaning cars...don't ask why lol but i accepted the help and we cracked on with a few hours of bonding lol :)

Anyway, heres a few pics of the cleaning :)

1st one, after me stripping the car i decided to take a few pics and let my dad do a bit of hoovering...:D
http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/4559/dscf0696qd4.jpg (http://img377.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0696qd4.jpg)

http://img509.imageshack.us/img509/2640/dscf0697cx7.jpg (http://img509.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0697cx7.jpg)

http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/6012/dscf0698gr1.jpg (http://img377.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0698gr1.jpg)

http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/5494/dscf0699bc2.jpg (http://img377.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0699bc2.jpg)

My car had a very distinctive musty smell inside...much like stale water - one of the reasons i decided to strip it! And i'm glad i did :) Found this hole in the drivers footwell (Pic below) was just missing a rubber, so put one in from the boot (As when i buy a new one it will be easier to fit!) and then taped up every hole that has a rubber in just to make sure that there will be no water leaking through them!
http://img377.imageshack.us/img377/5273/dscf0700zh8.jpg (http://img377.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0700zh8.jpg)

Thats about it right now, haven't done a great load as i've been away at college and doing other things but i'm guna be back on track this week. Doing the headgasket, giving it a service including plugs and so on and also lowering it 60mm all round! Pics of that will be up for next weekend :)

Looks like a very nice example there mate, at one point i did not like mk1's at all but i've grown to love them, they do look really retro now, when you think about it the first one's are really pretty old now, the good ones are looking better and better !! glad to hear your keeping the snow plow !!! and looking forward to seeing it come along, best of luck.
