A mate of mine is selling one in silver, totally boggo car and only wants £550 for it (no tax OR MOT but it should pish an MOT anyway)

Do I upgrade/downgrade the missus from a N reg Astra Mk3 Sport (1.6 16v) @ 126k miles, shes 3rd owner, HPi clear, 5 door mundane mobile to a said BMW?

Ive not got much info on said Bavarian motor, but its prolly same milage, more owners Im guessing but dont know about HPi or not?

He's also selling a 328i Coupe in white, red leathers, but an auto box and offered it me for £1700  (He paid £1800 when we went to buy it 2 years ago!)

Anyone, good or bad experence on the E36 range? He's selling the pair of them to buy a E46 M3 softop and a mobility MPV for his son (son has cereble paulsy).

So, enlighten me!

Is the BMW in better condition than the Astra? If so maybe have a think.

If you think it will go throught the mot okay then get him to put it through for the pretest just incase, then you don't have to pay out the 50 quid.

It's about £3.50 on the internet to do a basic HPI so has to be worth that.

As regard to BMWs, well I now nothing on BMW's lol

i had a 318, was tidy but a sack of poo id only get another if was 328 or better, i also did not like the pedals they seem to be to aside (if that makes sense) but that was me been picky, but it was about the most reliable car i have ever had, my mate had a 328 for a short time and he loved it and was fast he never had a problem with his in the short time he had it, but a lad i sort of know had the 325td he siad it was a good motor nippy and cheap to run but was always having problems with small things like elec windows, heating and fuse problems (so mainly electrical problems)

have you got any more info on the 328i hes selling and wheres abouts hes from?

i have a 325i myself and id suggest an e36 to anybody, especially at the prices they go for now. the 316i will be slow as hell, but itl still be comfier than the astra and the running costs shouldnt be too different!

The 328i is some rare edition with red leather's Lee. 2.8cc, auto box, coupe things with some form of 17" BMW rims, has had new tyres, every last scratch/mark on the paintwork has been touched up i know that much! Its been very well looked after by him & his missus, although the £1700 is a mates rate so he'll be asking more to anyone else. Location is J10 M6 (Wolverhampton)

Nice one for the 316 info mate, speed isnt really an issue, as ill be buying it for the missus to replace the Astra. Saying that, said Astra only cost us £300 anyway!

lol if I had the money for his 328 I'd keep it myself mate! Its worth £4k+ all day long!

But yea, the missus decided she wants the 316 dependant on test drive so we'll see what tomorrow brings :D

The E36's are nice cars - I loved mine to bits.

It's a shame the fella I sold it to decided to plant it into the side of a HGV!

I've had my E36 328i coupe for almost 4 months now and it's by far the best car I've owned. It's 10 years old with 112k on the clock, lowered with 17's but there isn't a single creak, squeak or rattle inside and it drives beautifully. My only gripe is the frankly ludicrous insurance (getting on for double what I was paying on my Vectra GSi which was in the same insurance group).
