hi all, my nova is my first car
which i am slowly rebuilding for when i
finally pass my test

whats on the car:
standard 1.2 merit with no engine mods (due to me having 3 points on my license already and not wantin to lose it just after i've passed my test)
custom made straight through with powerflow rear box
astra gsi wheels
few bits and bobs....

what i am (hopefully) doin to it:
(in process of) fillering all the dents out;)
smoothing out the rear boot
putting gsi side skirts on
put gsi bonnet vents on (1/2 done)
then spraying the wheels and whole car (haven't decided on what colours yet)
lower it by 50mm:p
and thats it i fink
pics coming soon as i figured how to!!
and any feedback/advice will be appriciated

cheers:thumb:

jst a few updated pics of what i got upto today...
well now i have bought a new rear bumper which has a numberplate slot with lights there is no need to keep it on the boot now so i have decided to smooth the whole boot out, so i have plasma cutted out the plate which will be welded on tommorow and then smoothed out soon...(plate just place on for pic so thats why it looks on the piss).....
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/connorlake_2008/DSC00002.jpg?t=1225221060
modified the original boot popper bracket and bolted the solenoid on ready for wiring up.....
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/connorlake_2008/DSC00005.jpg?t=1225221295
and then a new pic of the front although not much has changed...
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/connorlake_2008/DSC00003.jpg?t=1225221351
tommorow i'm planning on welding the plate on and grinding off the burrs etc
tappin ot the arch a little bit
and if i get chance fiddle around with the boot popper fo a bit!!!

Get it lowered, pronto!! Otherwise, good job fella. Not keen on the boot infill panel myself, but its your car. And get some bumper gel, bring those bumpers back to life.

28-10-08, 09:57 PM
Looks like a nice little tidy car you've got yourself mate, how are all the hotspots like the back arches and battery tray etc ? As said by others get it lowered next ! what you doin with the front then ?

NovaGuy1400SRi
28-10-08, 10:28 PM
As already said, get it lowered, other than that it looks alright.

Also, about the boot popper, my old kitted Nova had the same boot popper kit as that (was done when i got the car) it did'nt always pop the boot, was like it wasn't strong enough. I think you'd be better off getting a boot release out of an escort or similar :thumb:

03-11-08, 10:42 PM
well first i have taken the bodged black paint off the bottom half of the car
then i peeled off the strips along the side........
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/connorlake_2008/DSC00306.jpg?t=1225751634
................and then smoothed it out
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/connorlake_2008/DSC00307.jpg?t=1225751686
and found some nasty rust bubbles which i grinded down and have fillered over now
then welded the plate on the boot so i can smooth it out
then grinded it up
http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo218/connorlake_2008/DSC00321.jpg?t=1225751955
then i recieved my new bumper which is a novadose one(i didnt get it because i am a chav i got it because it has a number plate mount with lights so saves me alot of hassle!!!) also the bumper is literally held on it is not finished being mounted properly so thats why it look like it is hanging off!!!

Rather you than me welding panels without gloves…

Mmm ditch the rear bumper and do something clever with the o.e MK2 one instead ~ will look better.

Looks like its comming along well mate!
the wheels look good silver!
could you pm me how you did the boot, without a popper to start with?
how did you open it? from the inside?
im looking to do the same but wounderd if theres a way to get round all the wiring, as i have no back seats i could just open it from inside, and how did you wire up a button to open it without a popper
