View Full Version : Embarrased behind the wheel of your nova?

This was brought on by my flatmate, who refuses to drive my nova more than a few miles.

I dont know the best way to decribe the feeling, but i understand it. Like you dont want to me seen in the nova by anyone you know, or anyone you dont know! even though the nova looks in top condtion and is running on 3spokes with big brakes and some loud music banging (Not that i do that with teh coppers around here or have the speakers for that matter)

Meh maybe its just me and my mate.

(One of the pointless posts?)

You could drive more embarassing cars TBH. And when all said and done, you drive past someone walking when in your Nova and they laugh... their fooking walking! lol

just imagine driving along in a prius then....
everybody will be thinking

'smug ******* who thinks by buying one of those, that the planet will be saved, so peasants will bow down in front of you, whereas getting a new small turbodiesel hatch will actually be greener'

I'd be embarrased on 3 spokes with da choonz pumpin too ;)

Despite the stick I've had, never have and never will be ashamed of it. I love it and to hell with what anyone else thinks

i find that people i know proper love my car and think its aweseom that i drive a nova, but people that i dont know probably laugh etc, i expect they do anyway

also people who were nova haters when they get in the nova beast that also manages to swing them around aswell :)

bitch slap him for being embarrased, or shave both his eyebrows off so he will feel more embarrased walking then he will driving your beauty of a car :)

I have owned a rear engined skoda, a mk1 astra that was yellow, with a white hatch, powder blue doors, green bonnet & purple front airdam, until it got sprayed, a morris minor pickup and once a morris ital (for bits for the moggie)......trust me, a nova is not embarassing

we have the fastestest rover metro ever like... 139mph on youtube on the A47, and the apprentice bricky who works for us claims to know the lad who did it, & his other mate has a 1.1 metro that can do 115mph with 4 up.. I tried to explain that an electronic speedo that had been pulled apart to fit white dials (the most successful speed aid ever) is about as accurate as government crime figures, but he won't have it

General Baxter

139mph, must of been down that hill near the 'the bull in the oak' cross roads lol

Never been embarassed with my Nova and never seen anyone pointing taking the pee or even laughing at it. Infact have had people give me thumbs up whilst driving, which is a nice.

If I was to feel embarassed about driving a car I simply wouldnt drive or own it in the fırst place.

nope, thats the a447... my bro was going down there on his first jcb & a bl mini tried to overtake him, dave clicked the neutral switch & beat the mini to the bottom of the hill

the a47 hinckley northern relief road (to Earl Shilton) downhill section before the leicester road roundabout. lets just say that more than one lamppost has flowers round it

I'm not embarassed by my Nova. It's nice when some guy has a smug look on his face then I pi$$ on his chips in my '85 Vauxhall. Especailly when it's someone I knew in school lol I had my first Nova when I was in fifth year and they used to take the piss back then. Now they drive new Golfs and stuff, they have trouble seing me and my Nova for dust (and plenty of smoke ;)).

best road for miles is the one from sutton cheney to fenny drayton, I once overtook a convoy of xk8's (press launch at the mira test track)up there in my A reg beige hatch doing a smidgeon over 58mph whilst laughing my knackers off

I've got a lot of stick from everyone at work about buying a nova as i had a y reg fiesta before, people say stuff like "Dan, you know clean spares has moved?" (btw clean spares is a local scrappy) and then me being a mug said "nah where?...outside your house lol"

I'll happily take stick though, i personally think the nova is great! Love the looks of it (Guna be even better once i spend money on it :)) and i can see why there are so many lovers of it! I haven't even owned it a week yet but it is amazing, love driving it it's so fun :D So balls to all the haters, shows they have no real personality, whats the point of following technology and getting the latest cars with the best gadgets! It's pretty pointless tbh! Adds character to the car having manual choke and wind up windows! I love it!
Everyone else wants to be the same let them, i've seen 2 other novas around my area and the guys that drive them are great! How many fiestas have i seen? About 1 every few mins lol

Rant over! :D

had a similar experience with my red one (1.6). it was languishing in the workshop & the lads were taking the p ss, so I said 'ok, who wants scaring?' a coupl said Oh yeah, go on then, so I took them for a little spin down the 1/2 mile farm drive & back.... they were pale & very quiet

Went out in my mates escort (loadsarust) the other day, driving like a nob, lex**** lights, and a mahoosive exhaust, and pumping out speed gargae at a deafing level. Now thats embarassing!

Ive never been embarrassed driving Nova's. This is probably because I didnt get into them until well into my 20's. I can imagine I may have been in my late teens because you have a different frame of mind then. Now I can appreciate things for my own benefit rather than trying to please others lol

For example I took the 1.2 to have a set of tyres fitted last weekend. A schoolkid laughed at it while I was sat in traffic, but the tyre fitter who was roughly the same age as me commented on how mint the car was and how you dont see many good ones anymore.

End of the day, when you get a bit older you realise it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks lol

I feel more embarrassed for the people who get embarrassed over self portrayal
As for the people who inflict those psychological wounds, are their lifes so sad and/or boring that they have to mock others tastes????
It amazes me, Psychology - a wonderfully funked up thing

I get stick all day at work.It dont realy bother me as just tell them to look at the vids of mine and other nova's on track. They soon shut up lol.
I havnt driven a nova on the road for a few years now but the last time i did was to an rs day at castle combe with a mate in his mint un used escort cossie.
His mates were more interested in my nova than his car he was well gutted.
I think it was because i kept up with them were as he dropped back to avoid any dust that mite get his car dirty.

I had my mk1 Nova out a run to belfast and back last night, and the amount of admireing looks it get's would never make me feel embarressed to drive it.

Yep. lol

I prefer driving the Celica to the Nova tbh, for just about every conceivable reason. However, I do find it quite amusing to drive the saloon, certainly not embarrasing. If anyone laughs, I activate the fart cannon and burst their eardrums :)
