its not a good idea removing the oil cooler on the let. the oil gets hot enough on an xe let alone an let with the turbo heating the oil up quite drasticaly...

some later xe's did not come fitted with oil coolers (most do) but every LET came out of the factory with an oil cooler fitted

Dont remove it on a let.

Personally id only ever remove one on a daily driver xe(that wont see constant high revs/track use)

As said i'd leave it fitted on a LET, asking for trouble with it removed i reckon! I'm fitting one to my XE as i plan to abuse it! lol

I dont run one on my LET. Dont see temperatures exceed 100 degrees even when giving it some. Plus ive calibrated my sender so i know its not telling lies. Water temps are my only issue as i dont have a fan!

indeedy, no need for one if temps stay below 100deg in the sump

Dont run one on my LET either mate same as above just keep ya eye on the temperature but should be fine, think vauxhall just had them there as an added safety precaution...

would ambient temperature (outside) impact oil temperature? i.e hot country compared to a cold one?

it would aid it being colder but not effect it once the engine was upto temperature i would have thought

remember the std sandwich plates are thermostatically controlled so it wont be doing much for most of the time but when the temps do get hot it will be there to cool it down.

if you've got lots of air flow through your bumper its not so bad as there is alot of stuff crammed in a cav/cal let engine bay and there aint alot of room for the air to get through into there..

Nope never had one fitted, never had a problem with oil temp either to be honest.

Even then if I wanted one I have no idea where I would have fitted it lol

lol

Suprisingly tbh, youd expect oil temp to be through the roof with the turbo heating the oil too.
