Am i right in asuming that you can no longer get the wing bolts with the 24mm captive washer???

Vauxhal stock some but they have a smaller washer which is no good as you could see the difference in the paint where the washer has covered.

Any help greatfully recieved

Most bodyshops will have about 1000 of them scattered around the floor.

The only thing unique about original ones is the genuine factory paint on them....

There was someone over on mig who did the chrome ones, but has stopped after they started to rust. He know does them as a bolt and washer setup.

Im liking the look of allen key studs so i might go for them M5x20

Wont you need to change the clips in the wing mounting panel if you use bolts?

white2lSR

you just remove the clips and use a bolt

Looks over engineered IMO. Theres no need for that kinda measure even if it does look "better".

And a nut, which would just be a PITA IMO!!

If you use a bolt i'm assuming you will need a nut aswell, which would be fiddly as fook.

Just go to a fasteners stockists with old screw in hand and ask them for some replacements?!

Original captive nuts in a chrome flava. Nice, simple, effective.

Can you not remove the washers, clean them up and get new screws?! Long winded but you would get the results your after?

washers are captive, you cant remove them without damagine the threads

Cut the head of the bolt, hey presto one large diameter washer!

Just shotblat & paint the originals or take the to a plating company that will acid dip them & plate them in a finish of your choice.
I had mine shot blasted and painted with my car. I then managed to find some new genuine early type ones at a dealer, I'll be using them on the SR
