much like when you get people spending hundreds of thousands of pounds on a painting that looks like it was done by a 3 year old

Becuase you buy it for a work car/van at a cost of £20k, keep it for say 6 months, then sell it privatly for the same amount or a little less.

You buy it for £20k lets say, claim the Tax back (20% of £20k) as its for a company vehicle. But then sell it privatly for £18k and keep the cash as oppose to putting it back into your business. This way youve managed to release £18k plus whatever 20% of £20k is, from your business, tax free & totally legal.

A good friends dad done for this many years, he sold David Beckham his plate (DB 7 ) said friends dad is now a millionaire & owns a legit business buying & selling private cherished registrations! Not bad for an Ex roofer!

Your missing the point. WHY do people feel the need to have a private plate. Financial gains aside. Its only somethong that happens here AFAIK.

lol!! I'm guessing you mean, to personalise it?! lol So a standard DB9 with a poncey private plate is personalisation (is that a word??!!lol) You can keep your private plates. It seems the uk are the only people sad enough to bother about it.

Mike

As the UK are one of a minority of countries where you can actually get a private registration ;)

I have always wanted A1 PFR, so when someone asks what it stands for, I can say 'Private forking Reg'
