Mk1 bootlid

Im replacing the bootlid on my car as the old rusted away..... When changing the bootlid, whats the best thing to do with the washer jet hose which runs into the bootlid? as i need to connect the old hose from the car to the new bootlid.

anyone know?

Pull it out and connect to the new one? Not hard really. Or am i missing the point?

No i know that... what i mean is i cant get to the back of the washer jet as its under the spoiler, and the new bootlids pipe has been cut short, so do i cut the old pipe and try and mate the too ends together.
