View Full Version : New car!
Well, I still haven't sold the Nova, but I went ahead and bought the next car, it's a perfect condition W reg (2000) Skoda Octavia GLXi. It's nicce, but BORING! The 1600 is a noticable improvement from the 1200 in the nova though, I can actually do 100 now if i want to!
I'd put pics up but it's bog standard and silver... Trust me, you'd rather look at turd you've freshly shat out... Haha! But all joking aside, it's nice to drive and hopefully will be as reliable as ever being a VW!
One more thing, I joined a forum "Briskoda" the community there sucks dick. Everyone prefers their cars as standard and generally only ever post when they want someone who has access to a VAG-COM. So it's dead.
Not a patch on you guys!!!!

why you get rid of the nova?
Just wanted something more modern. I never pretended to be a die hard nova fan. Infact I only had it because it was free to me as a first car. I wouldn't have chosen it given a choice (within reason, if it was the nov or a saxo/clio etc, i'd have chosen the nova!)
I also do a fair bit of travelling around so I want comfort and the luxuries that newer cars bring. Sad I know, and if I had somewhere to store the nova, i wouldn't have any second thoughts, i'd wait til things become more stable in the future and make it a hobby!

dont be sold on reliability, as when is goes wrong its gonna cost ya!. vauxhalls FTW!!!!
I had a Fabia 1.4 "sport" as a courtesy car once when the celica was having some work done.
All I'll say is if thats whats Skoda consider "sport", no wonder they never win anything.
Isn't the Octavia the big saloon car? Would have thought the 1.6 is a small engine to pull that...

otavia is based on the golf mk4 platform, the superb is on the passat platform, so i;m guessing the fabia is polo. either way, theyre all poo
yeah it's the same as a golf 1600. despite the octavia's look, it's still a hatchback.
the sport versions are just standard engine ones with a few extras. the higher spec engines are vRS models. i've personally never heard anyone say anything bad about them. just with a remap they easily kick out 220bhp but still very quick in bog standard form.
...but a modern vauxhall going wrong is gonna cost you at least as much!
as for if the octy goes wrong, i'm in the lucky position of having a family member working high up in a skoda garage. having been there for a long time it's easy to get things done as and when free of charge. however this not being the case, perhaps you'd be right!

I'd figured the engine was pretty standard... I did try and break it tho
