Polishing magnesium

Hello there!!

Got some alloys.. which arent alloys, they are actually magnesium, didnt realise this till had one hanging so i could spray it and my mate who works in a foundry recognised the stamp marks on the back.

Im after polishing up part of the wheels, so i had looked into how to polish alloy etc, well magnesium is completely differant isnt it, so has anyone on here polished mag before? or is it even possible!

The general jist seems to be that you cant really get a good finish if you try and polish Mag, plus they oxidize pretty quickly.
Seems to be a lot of work for not the best finish ... just paint them !

bugger :( so mag oxidises quickly, but alloy oxidises quicker! awesome lol
