took it for a drive the other day, its absolutely mint, got everything sorted and phoned the lad up, and was told he'd sold it. bugger.
just got a phone call, the lad who did buy it had the owner put a new exhaust and spark plugs in it, left a £50 deposit, then said he didnt want it, so i'm picking it up tonight.
finally i can stop driving the golf 5h1tbox for a bit!:thumb:

that cav looks top, and its a loon. now i'm jelous :)
got mine back, drives like new, only 63000 on the clock, just needs a few touches (brakes are spongey, no spare wheel but i'll borrow one of my da's 14" fanblades, cambelt) and it'll do for the winter.
my only complaint are the "recaro style" seats are just a little too snug, but i think that's more to do with me...
and as for the nova in the background, a)its a mk2, and b) its far from tidy...

Aye its a 1.7 izuzu TD, its the one i was talking to you about at pv this year when you were saying about your van running uber power from a derv and i asked about helping/doing the white ring mod for me lol
Cheers adam im a proper cleaning/polishing freak though which helps to keep it tidy as its mint underneath.

nah i still had to pay £350 for it. bloody rip off merchants some people!
and its probably going to be next week before the polishing starts.
i swapped the insurance over today from the golf, they are giving me £25 back on my next payment, then i'm all paid up til march! so on insurance alone its going to save me nearly £200, so the cars nearly paid for itself.

my dad also runs one, 1.7 td isuzu, used to have another one before some idiot in a golf tried to drive through it. he's also had a mk2 1600, and a mk1 that should have been a 1300 but had the SRi130 engine dropped in. shame i wasnt old enough to apreciate them

Same here, my mate lived a couple of doors down from me and his stepdad had a suffix reg mk2 cav saloon which was an sr (or SRi if they did them that early but dunno) anf then had a brand new G reg mk3 hatch SRi, which i went out in a few times and it went like a train iirc but i didnt think it was anything overly special back then as all the lads round here loved cossie`s at the time lol

i had a white 4wd cav gsi and it was great until uncle rusty chewed the fuker up.

Im far too compulsive for polishing her and cleaning (all my mates would read that as anal on cleaning) but she has been well looked after till now so would be a shame to let it rot as its solid completely underneath, still on original paint/panels with no rust!
Ive got full diplomat interior/leather in her now with heated fronts too, mint in the cold months and does 500-600 miles to a tank with it being derv:thumb:

There were some mighty fine late SRi's on the 'bay last week, one was a doctor owned XE'd SRi on a L reg. Was really clean.
It looks to me like this thread is turning into a "show us yer cav" thread lol
Cavs are cool workhorses, especially as most people are garaging their Novas over the winter and turning to their more hardy cousins lol I have to drive a 320 mile round trip every time I want to see my bloke so I needed something reliable and comfy- even better that it was only £350. I've had no problems with it in the whole 16 months, it's a sound car and cool in it's own right :p
Cant argue with that then for that price and many moons of trouble free motoring then, id love a GSi myself but i think ive got the best of both worlds really, all the GSi spec/looks and derv economy lol

I would, it'd kick ass against the lexus-light, meccano winged Vectras they put in but everyone would say it was a fix :( I can't let my Cavvy or Nova to lose out to lesser Vauxhalls!

Na, SR-Ish needs a set on his. Dont badge it as an SRi or anything, but have it of a similar spec. You need a 5 stud set up on your car and then the Turbo Rims Spud.

Err tbh its bad for me as ive always had stupid high insurance and i dont know why, all my cars have cat1 alarms, all locked secured tenfoot overnight (secured drive to class it as they do) ive never been banned or had any claims against me, im 27 in a med risk postcode and im paying over 700 tpft:eek: :eek:

With regards to the Red Cav, I saw one at Billing 2 years back, was badged as an early SRI but had a GSi Kit on it and a 5stud Turbo wheel set up in Black. It looked so tastey!! Especially with all the early Lights and badging.
