I had a little bit of faith in the 4x4 system, until my friend rang me today to say his transfer box just blew up at 30mph off boost. Gutted.

i can see where the cuddly comment came from in recent pics, shame tbh as he used to be nice and slim/fit, i used to want to have sex with him, not so sure these days if im being honest with myself.

Ill always love you mate, just get back in shape and things can go back to how they once were.
As motivation, think of the good times we shared at trax 02/03 etc

ive seen a 4x4 nova shell on ebay in the past, i did have pics (will post up when i recover my old HDD)

it was a bare shell ready to bond a wide arch kit on. was semi space framed and was built to accept full std cally turbo running gear just had to shorten the prop shaft.

Everyone seems to have a mates uncles brother that has one in a garage somewhere that they have spent 700000 million pounds builfing in special custom parts yet no one actually sees. We did a corsa and one of our customers built one ( using some parts off the one we did ) and its fully road legal and on the road an drives. It does however have a transfer box problem but the 4x4 does work.

IMO its a waste of time anyway way by fitting it all you make it weigh the same as the moon and even then a well set up xe/let fwd nova will spank one 0-60 anyway.

If its to be done then use a proper system and get enough power to back it up.

So in other words if youre gonna build one, fit a twin supercharged 3.0ltr V6 lol

Philsutton

V6's are for girls, you want a V8 or two at least.

Spudly
19-10-08, 03:18 PM
Oh, lol

But you wouldnt need the 4x4 system if you had two V8`s up it though unless you used one to superchare the other haha!

Theres been a couple of veyron write offs right? so there's some spare engines kicking about somewhere lol

the biggest problem is that the cav/calibra system takes up far too much room....also the rear track of a nova is too narrow.

I have often thought that a rangerover engine & box mounted backwards in the back driving something like bmw diffs would be a hoot... imagine a 6r4 but not ugly..............

I think years ago in the back of motoring news there was a company called hackman that did a 4x4 conversion on a nova.Think they called it a fbr.

Mike
19-10-08, 07:53 PM
^ indeed they did, at £8k a conversion ;)

The only production 4x4 car that is anywhere near a Nova's track is an Escort Cosworth, only thing is, Es'Cos running gear will set you back about £6k lol

Really cant see a fwd nova being quicker to 60 than a 4x4. In a road going setup. Maybe with some 10 or 13" wide slicks with 10psi on the front it maybe as quick but cant see it being faster.
Well i hope not  or the last 10 month of mine has been a waste lol lol

the ponit of the comment was that a cav/cal turbo 4wd setup stuffed into a nova will not be very good compared to a good 16v 2wd.

your cossie van should just be scary fast

I to will have the extra weight tho:(
But still hope it to be around 900kgs

The cossie 4x4 gearboxes are quite poo too once your at the 400hp stage

What maybe next on my list is skyline box;)
