Brakes.

Couple of questions about changing the brakes on my mk2 nova. At the mo it has standard 1.2 brakes, which have just had brand new pads. Im thinking about changing to GTE/GSI front brakes. Will my 1.2 pads fit the 1.6 items? (My pads are the longer type not the square type)

Ive got a few sets of wheels to chose from and i was wondering if they would fit under the standard 13inch steels? If not i presume they will fit under 14 steels.

But if i decide to have the brakes off my project (256mm) will they fit under 5.5J 14inch steels?

not sure about the pads, but nova gte brakes will fit under 13's. the 256mm ate (2ltr) brakes will fit under 5.5jx14 steelies. just not with new pads. you'll have to skim the pads down or the edge of the caliper. part worn pads will be fine and nothign will need modifying

256mm brakes have already had some taken off as there fitted to my mk1 with 3spokes and brand new pads and dics.

What would people recommend? Nova is 95% standard and im not planning on a engine change.

Im still unsure of this idea. 256 seems overkill.

You can never go overkill where brakes are concerned. Better brakes are always a good thing

bust out the grinder and hefty sandpaper and cain the pads down a bit for the 256 badboys, everyones gonna shout at me for that.

Your all right. But its having the money, i dont want to take the brakes from the mk1 nova to leave it without any. Even though it dont move yet.
