miss fire ?

well my 1.4 sr is misfiring in numbers 2 and 3 i recently gave plugs etc a spray with WD40 but the car also has a dead battery wont hold a charge for 5 minutes could battery cause this ?:confused:

Get a new battery. At a guess, WD40 cant be good for splugs can it? Plugleads breaking up? Rotor arm in good nick?

Change the rotor arm and dizzy cap if they havent been done recently!! If the battery isnt holding charge it may be the alternator on the way out or as said a dying battery!;)

battery been sitting for ages so could battery alone cause missfire ?

Wouldnt have thought so. You would be better of trying new cap and arm first. May have got damp in it causing miss fire.
