i have read over the years about putting different internals in 8v blocks to get different capacities. i now have all the types of an 8v at my disposal and am wanting to swop a few bits around to get what i want (i.e i have a 1.2, 1.3 and a 1.4 all early carb model engines). i was wanting to know what to put where to get a decent capacity. for example someone once told me to put 1.3 crank rods and pistons into a 1.2 block and you get a 1.4 or close to. i am wanting to stick with a 1.2 block if possible as i know this is strong as i have had 8200rpm out of it and nothing has ever happened to it yet! (fingers crossed lol) so has anyone got any ideas? i am wanting to try n get as much capacity as possible using the above engines in combination with a ported and polished with big valves 1.3 head, rally cam and vernier with twin 40's etc. i will be getting all the bottom end matched and lightened so that will help a bit but its just im tearing me hair out to find which one to use!! :) anyone got any ideas????
cheers

You want a 1.3 crank & rods with 1200 pistons in a 1200 block. That gives you the long 1300 stroke with the larger bore of a 1200. You will need to calculate & adjust the CR with this setup as simply assembled, the CR will be a bit high unless you intend to run race fuels. A lumpy cam & twin 40's should see you well up around 110 bhp possibly more if a good ign setup is used.

I'd be going with what CG said.

as above,
lifters will be your next problem if you intend to rev it that hard.

do i need to go to solid lifters then? hows the best way of doin this? to get proper jobies? or weld the ones i have and shim them like i have seen them done? or i could make them? i know this would be hard but if i get dimensions i could soon cnc them out on the laith and have them perfect? i do intend on revving it quite hard and i have had a hydraulic lifter blow into bits in the past and do not want this to happen again!! lol probably think cnc laithing some out would probably be the best solution ut i would need very close dimensions off someone that has solid ones fitted? anyone any suggestions?
I have a spare set of solid lifters and the round tooth adjustable vernier you were after . Would only sell this with the Piper 285 cam that is attached to it. Also have a lightweight flywheel but not sure how light you want to go. You have my number Ben. Cheers, Graham.

where exactly do you want/need the power? its pointless roasting the tits off it thinking that the higher the RPM the better.
