I've got a 1.0 ltr at the moment but ive been lookin to put in a 1.4 but i jus wanted to ask...

Obviously the 1.4 is a better engine for driving, but the decision all depends on how old you are, and thus how much insurance will be on it. Don't forget that modifying a car in anyway should also be declared to your insurance company, which can cost you more again, not to mention the fact that most kit looks crap on a Nova anyway - keep it simple.

please try to use all letters required for words, even if in the wrong order ;)

the 1.0 is a gash engine, but if you arent going to insure the car properly then DONT change the engine

and i dnt like to over do it on mods, jus want it to look good, but i just want to know what would be better to put in my car? the 1.4 or keep the 1.0..

The insurance costs will be the decider! Ring them and see what they say. Then you can decide what to do engine wise.

might be cheaper on insurance if you go out and by a 1.4 nova as that way the engine in it is standed as above call the insurance and find out

my friend had a little mk1 nova 1L and the thing never died after selling that he went on to kill 3 mk2 asta 1.6 lumps it 2~3 months lol

yeah i've been speaking to my mates about it and i've been told it would cost more to insure a 1.4 conversion rather then a standard 1.4.

Im thinking to just stick with my 1.0 for a little bit just till i get my years no claims and i'm earning a bit more cash.

indeedy. I persevered with a std 1.2 MK2 nova for 5 years which made insurance silly cheap there after :D

keep the 1.0. its a wonderful engine. torquey, and economical

the 1.2 carb is even better but lacks a certain 'charm' :(

I dunno, you can pillage the 1.2's for all they are worth and they keep coming back for more.. I didnt service mine for 2 years/20K miles, oil was like treacle, air filter was pitch black and letting big lumps through etc and it was still happy as larry

it did have a charm, it really did! why oh why do you not belive me?
the 1.0 used to purr and tick away to me as i drove long ways on the road for many hours, it used get angry if you pushed it too hard, and it got upset when you fell out with it. it always started, (except when it didnt start) and was 100% relieable when it was running.
oh how i miss the OHV.

economical
...if you drive everywhere at 30mph and avoid hills.

hehe, reminds me of Alex's 1.0 polo. Very economical until I took it on the M5 - 10 minutes at 70 and I kid you not 1/3 a tank had disappeared lol

Slow engines are only slow when you put your foot down.

Dont ask much of them & they seem quite sprightly...
