Having a few problems with my Auto meter oil pressure gauge.
First of all the sensor they supply leaks like a *******.

so i had to use the standard vauxhall one. now this reads off the scale with pressure, as soon as the engine is started. so i'm thinking the sensor might be foofed. It has 2 connections to the rear of the sensor. One is for the standard gauge, the other is for the oil pressure light. one is a pin type with plastic shrowd the other is a small nut. Does anyone now which is which? as my wires both have ring terminals for some bizzare reason!?!

Does anyone know if this type will run the gauge?

or does it have too bee the big ass one?

Whats the normal oil pressure for a 1600cc e16se anyway?

cheers peeps

first of all, the sender above looks like a BSP or NPT taper thread,

secondly, the item below is a switch ie on-off, not analog hence its going topscale.

so you need 'to bee the big ass one' ;)

This is the type i have fitted. Its wired to the nut fixing not the plug. should it be on the plug?

Your right about the auto meter sensor. it is a taper thread. what if i get a proper adapter made up?

the nut fixing is correct, the plug is still there for the switch on the dash light. however the range of the auto-meter sensor may be different to the OE unit and may therefor read incorrectly on the gauge.

you could get an adapter made/bought im sure they will be available. or the other option is to.
ideally, you want a suitable parallel male to female taper adapter with a T-piece so you still have use of the OE dash switch/light. you always notice a big red light before a low gauge reading. thats why meters are more an occasional diagnostic than a warning, as by the time the pressure reads low, the engine is already worn.
