View Full Version : Engine weights
I'm sure this has been asked before, but I don't ever remember reading a specific answer. And the search has failed me, damn you stoooo lol
How heavy is a C25XE (Cavalier) compared to a 20XE (Astra GTE)?

there isnt much in it tbh, if you have a c20let for example with big ass turbo intercooler an F28 then it will be more than a v6 anyway.
Or a diesel lol

which makes you wonder why there aren't more V6 Novas around
Because they're not as easy to fit as a LET or XE. Custom mounts, inlet size, and then there's the exhaust nightmare...
If I get around to doing one in mine, I'll consider making templates of the mounts and lots of pics of the exhaust.
if memory serves, I reckon it is only 20-25kgs more

Search Corsa A V6 on youtube and theres a few of them on there, Ze Germans are getting it done.
Im suprised there aint more v6 novas tbh. Engines are cheap as fook to buy, and 200bhp is easy to come by too

Only other problem is there alot less room to work on them once fitted. But the sound is much nicer.

there easer to do the belt in a nova v6 then a xe :thumb:
With The Xe Clutch And F20 Box Mine Weighed In At 18kg More Than A C20xe

Any size bottom end with the Cav 25XE inlet & ECU, mate. Up the rail ressure to suit the engine size. 3.0 (GSi) inlet cams also well worth it. F20 box is the one to use also.
Though have to say, after returning back to Nova driving again I can't imagine why you would want create such a monster of understeer???
I have the celica to go round corners, I just want something with lazy grunt to pootle me distances with relative ease.
Plus, its different - know of many other V6 saloons? :D
Hmm, I could put the bottom end of the 3.0 onto a 2.5, and 3.0 inlet cam too?

Depends really, alot of people like them because of the lazy power, and tbh if they dont weigh that much more than an xe, then why not? we've all seen how well a well setup xe'd nova can be.
i thought u were going for the 2.8??
Preferably 2.9 if I can get one for a decent price.
Not sure yet, will have to see whats about at the time... just weighing (lol) up my options at the mo.
well if i could lift the v6 by meself id weigh it for ya lol
Buy a cheap cav diplomat and use engine out of that.
With enlarged TB, set of 4 vectra GSI "G" cams its relatively easy to get 220bhp with a decent exhaust etc.
They are technically a small block and the block is lighter than the XE/LET block just the extra head etc that adds up.
Ha, ive just picked up a 2.5 V6 From a vectra Sri (so not quite as powerful as a Gsi 2.5 v6 but that is only cams and ecu) for nothing.
just need to get around the ecu coding.
