View Full Version : fuel regulator at 8-9 BAR!

Cars been running sweet for a few days now, re-earthed everything, not broke down since.. however last night i noticed at low revs the engine sounded like it was backfiring, and if i had no revs on at all.. just rolling in 4th for example the car would 'judder' as if it was trying to come out of gear.

Looks at my fuel reg.. bouncing from 8-9 bar on idle .

I've tryed adjusting it.. and lowest i can get it down to is 6-6.5. however when i rev it slighty, it drops down to around 4.5-5 bar.

I had it set up twice, (3 bar at idle). First time it dropped to 1.5 bar randomly.. so i got it put back to 3. Then it went to 4.5 bar.. again randomly. So i set it back to 3...

The nut on top of the fuel reg (what locks it in positon) was/has been tightened properly each time it's been adjusted, so vibrations isnt the problem..

surely it cant be funked alredy, As ive just bought it. But no matter which way/ how much i try to adjust it.. it wont go any lower than 6-6.5 bar :confused::confused::confused:

Any ideas/help would be mucho apreciated :thumb:

Its probably time to start using proper management instead of risking the life of your engine with some dodgy pressure regulator

have u crushed the return pipe jacking the car up? that could increase pressure>?

Not crushed return pipe. Think something in the regulator must of 'stuck open' or something, bc it wont adjust anymore.

Lol thought it would of been suffice, seen as the other one was standard, and buzzed all the time under pressure. Worked a treat .. upto now lol. It just wont adjust.

i must have stuck closed for it to increase the pressure.

remember, fuel rails are regulated by BACK-pressure

This is the one i saw the day after i purchased the cheepo one. Yes i kicked myself lol.

Oh and granturismo is ok :) prefer to go on 2 player, put rubbish tyres on the back take traction control off and see how much smoke i can create lol

I'd be inclined to check the pressure using another gauge as it may be the gauge at fault.

Surely the pump would be screaming its tits off at 8 bar?

tbh it screamed more at 3bar than what it is now, its totally silent. Got it down to 6 bar this morning, and it drops down to around 5 when i rev it..

Does this new reg have a vacuum port on it?

aye, and its on properly.. you take the vac pipe off when adjusting, still dont make a difference.

I hate to say it, but if that reg is giving your fuel rail 9 bar (or whatever) its no good.

not on 9 any more, on 6 then when i rev it 5 .. so not as much pressure, still need a new one tho.

Still WAYYYY to high.
Im suprised the injectors are still survivng.

Assuming the gauge is actually correct.

funk know's what is going on... i adjusted it before got it on 6 bar... Just been out to start it, wouldnt start.. got my mate have a look at the gauge for me whilst i turned it over, read 1 bar. so i adjusted it slightly.. boom fired up, was on 3bar at idle, running sweet.. then boom it rose to 6 again. Definatly got to be the adjustable thing on the reg.
