Has anyone got any pictures showing where I need to stitch weld my engine bay,as I'm doing a good old xe conversion :)

And is there anyone that wants some welding practice and fancies doing it for me :thumb:

every joining panel needs welded for strength under the bonnet and in the wheel arches. Also a strengthening kit is recommended. :thumb:

Also a strengthening kit is a complete waste of time unless your rallying it :thumb:

Check through the projects section, theres loads of pictures in there, trackdaynova and krobinson have some decent pics of the areas to concentrate on.

I've got some pics of mine but I'm yet to upload them and probably won't have time till the weekend if you still need some by then.

Theres mixed views on the strengthening kit, some think think its a good idea whilst others think its a waste of time. I've personally fitted one now with the view of future engine conversions in mind, its really not required unless you're building a track car, C20LET or as Paul's said above, rallying.

Stitch weld the turrets to the inner wings & chassis legs, the inner wings to chasis legs & the chassis legs to the bulkhead.

IMO the plate kits are worth while, the extra feel & rigidity they add is a welcome addition tbh. The webbing plate that goes on at the bottom arm mounts is particularly beneficial IMO as are the crossmember plates & the extra box section that the forward plates add & if you like a bit of handbrake turn action, the rear beam mount plates are also worthwhile.
