Right i thougt its about time i got started on my 1.2 luxe plus, i bought it 2 years ago for £200 as a cheap runabout but the engine didnt last long and its been sat on my front for 18 months,
i couldnt bring myself to get rid of it but i had 2 corsas so i never got round to doing it,
both the corsas are now dead lol so i have no car i decided if im going to do an engine change then i may as well make it worthwhile and into something that i actually enjoy driving, so the corsas are out the pictre and the luxe plus is getting a new engine

this is what i started with

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/DSC00519.jpg

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/DSC00518.jpg

and i decided that i fancied turbo power but i didnt want a let, i had an old 2l 8v ne out of my old calibra at the bottom of my grden under a sheet so i decided that ill throw that in and get it turbod

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/DSC00522.jpg

i started on saturday morning the engine was already out and started to clean up the bay ready for the new lump, tbh i went a bit further than i first intended, i ended up welding in plates to smooth out the top of the chassis rail and giving everything a quick lick of paint, by sunday night it was all done an ready for the new lump but i couldnt get a set of shafts local and i need it running asap so i decided to ditch the old f16 for now and swap over to the f13 out of my GSi

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/DSC01337.jpg

to get this to fit i had to removed the 2l flywheel and clutch and replace it with 1600 equivelent, the 1600 flyis on the right

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/DSC01335-1.jpg

to get the 1600 fly on to the 2l crank you need to re drill the bolt holes slightly larger because it uses thicker bolts, although you wont really be able to tell from the pic

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/DSC01348.jpg

doing it this way has worked out a ot easier for me because all the standard bits fit back on shafts linkage no spacer etc,

Looks like it could be a good looking car with abit of TLC. Shame the wheels dont match, those MIM (i think thats what they are!?) are nice wheels.

spent the rest of the day and all of tuesday stripping down the engine and cleaning and painting everything, even th engine and box got colour coded, not the best of finishes but it was done with halfords rattle cans,

once i got that little lot done to a standard i was happy with it was pretty late so i packed it in for the night, bu i still ended up taking the inlet in the house with me to give it a good clean up and a quick sand down to take out all the casting marks (by hand) then a quick polish (again by hand lol)

that brings me to today i spent all of today fitting the engine and box back together and fitting it all into the luxe, i decided it has to go in naturally aspirated for now cos i dont have time to finish the manifold for the turbo, which is a t3 from an rs turbo, ill get that done in college next week and get it fitted on v low boost for now until i can afford megasquirt,

few pics of todays progress

the bottom end and gearbox al mounted in place, just a little problem the water hose has no take off to fit to so im going to have to make something up tomorow

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/076.jpg

head and inlet fitted on

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/084.jpg

and with a little gasket paste ready for the cam carrier to be bolted down

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/103.jpg

halfords rattle can special paint job on the top end

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/100.jpg

and then all bolted together with nice new headbolts

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/115.jpg

got a little bit of the wiring and the plumbing sorted then stuck on a 256mm brake setup

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/102.jpg

and a quick wash

http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn152/DAN-F/nova%202l%20t/PIC_0353.jpg

and it was getting dark again lol

little bit of plumbing and the rest of the wiring tomorow now and i should be able to start it up fingers crossed, i just need a longer throttle cable does any one know if i can use a mk3 cavalier one? cos i already have one of them on a scrap cav v6

looks a lot better now ive washed it, the wheels do match its just the fronts have the centre caps removed because the wheels have been off and on that many times i couldnt be bothered putting them back, only problem i have now is deciding what colour to paint them back silver or white or satin black? and do i leave the centre caps off or on?

Looks better now cleaned! I take it the wheels do match, lol You got your water hoses connected up ok in the end then?

EDIT: just seen your above post lol

Centre caps 100% on and silver is best IMO against that paintwork.

Is the V6 project no longer then??

Looks like a nice clean shell.

Will you not need a rising fuel rate regulator even if you are running low boost?

DaveyLC

A T3 is a bit big to be running low boost? Surely it would make more sense to run something smaller and less laggy.

DAN-F

v6 is still sat in the garage waiting on a few parts but it will be done this is being done because i need a runaround for now i want that to be done properly,
shouldnt need an fmu at very low boost around 5psi and its having aftermarket management in a few weeks so the fuelling will all be taken care of with that
im using the t3 because its what i have at the minute, when i can afford a few more pennies its having megasquirt and the boost will go up to about 14-15 psi i may change to a renault 5 turbo if its too laggy, but im just going to see how it goes with the t3 for now
