Anyone with a brown nova or pictures would be great to get a collection up together. dont see many around nowadays, very retro and wicked when restored properly.

Post your pics. :thumb:

I will post some more pics of my brown SR... the colour is Mocca brown, very rich chocolate colour when the sun is on it.

As i mentioned in the other thread, its not an SR, its a 1.2 L

Simon 1867
08-10-08, 11:28 AM
Its a SR, all parts have been sourced and fitted, every nut and bolt almost is exact. Ive spent 5years on this project, researching and working my socks off.

loggyboy
08-10-08, 11:30 AM
Not really, its been converted to an SR but fair enough. How long has it been on the road as an SR?

Ben
08-10-08, 11:32 AM
If it wasnt an SR from the factory it will never be one. Drives me nuts looking at for sale threads of people saying "GSi for sale" click in and they say started life as a 1,2.

I do like your car though, very nice.

Simon 1867
08-10-08, 11:39 AM
I totally agree with what your saying, but my car has had every little thing changed, any way this thread was about just getting a collection of brown novas up together. They are rare, but becoming a retro classic

The snowplough is sprayed in stone chip as it has a texture, which I liked and was something different. I kinda like the door mirrors standard colour, too many sprayed the colour of the car.

should leave the sr seats in imo rather than the cream ones you put back in stunning motor though dude!! i want my bay to be that clean soon but i dont know weather to try do it all before pv or wait and take it off the road straight after and do it then!!

Simon 1867

The grey SR seats arent right for the car, ruins it. The cream ones are more comfy and look minles better. You can do alot of tidying in the engine bay for PV, make it look reasonable. Mine is only that clean as i had the whole lot out to rebuild it.

This was mine, bought it on Ebay a couple of years back for £60. Picked it up from Milton Keynes, drove it back up the M1 and straight into the scrap yard to strip it lol. Was quite solid actually but ended up like this...

Did you sort out the engine trouble you was having mate?

Car looks mint as always. I agree with it being debadged. Also a very subtle exhaust like a standard GTE / GSi would finish off the look from the rear.

Thats my opion though :thumb:

Its still dying when i slow down but that is due to the carb i think needing a good clean, i have put carb cleaner through it and redex so we will see.

Compresstion was spot on, all 4cylindes where 160psi 11bar.

I like you idea of the exhaust, that one is new so may leave it for now

Looking good fella the clear indicators look smart. But I'm not too keen on that steering wheel dude, maybe its just me, but you have a very orginal looking Nova with an original interior and a not so original steering wheel. I'd have gone for a GTE wheel or another Vaux wheel. Just my thoughts.

UPDATE:

Fitted my other steering wheel today, decided to fit this after taking a break from doing my head gasket, which in turn has turned in to stripping the engine and doing some engine dressing up and polishing of the engine bay.

Nice wheel mate, got the same on the corsa, you haven't got a spare cover which goes over the boss have you? It goes between the wheel and steering column shroud.

Hope you get it ready for billing, would be nice to see it on the PNG stand this year.

Nice one with the vinyl si, pity about the engine troubles you've had, a 2.0 8v could really finish that car off :)

Rebuilt my cylinder head this morning so over the next few days I will put the engine back together, new tyres and exhaust then all finished.

As soon as the sun is out I will wash and polish her some more and it will look even better than previours pics in this thread.

Pictures to come when I get in from work
