Alternator Code... Needed A.S.A.P

Does anyone know the code that came on a Alternator for a J reg 1.2 carb nova?

I need this so i can find out my options for a bigger Alternator. (Apprently)

Or some sort of part number.

On the system at BMS it says it could be a 50, 55 or 65 amp Alternator in mine but they don't know.

just go scrappers and get one from a cav d should be 70 amp

As said just get 70+ anything upto 100 will be fine.

They told me that getting 1 off another vauxhall e.g sri, diesel etc... wouldn't go on.

Most are interchangeable. IIRC though the Diesels had the pump on the back so wont be anygood so stick to petrol variants.

I rang up BMS and said i want a bigger alternator for my nova like 100 or something they said to me we can't do anything without the code on the 1 on it.

I came on here to ask what that code was as i don't know much about engines at all.

They couldn't help me anymore.

Depends what the car had as standard, if it had aircon, pas, cruise, climate etc etc then will have a higher rated alternator.

edit: think the low blow later astra diesels didnt use the pump setup and narrow belt so could be a winner.
