declairing xe with no engine numbers

the engine numbers on a friends xe have coroded and we cant read them. whats the best thing to do because he wants it all legal?

they are stamped into the metal, unless the block has been in the canal for 20 years, it is visible......... get some emery cloth & try & clean it up.

Was going to say, they wont corrode off, if anything, they've been ground off!

Poeple only ground engine numbers off for a reason ;) I.E. Engine from a stolen car.
