iv tried to ring adrian flux but they are closed. paid 375 for it just needs a few little bits. taps a bit and its letting oil in the inlet manifold:wtf:

Do the breather mod clear all the breather holes etc, you will get some oil in the inlet. Ill give you 500 for the cav! lol

the car hadnt been started in months. so the oil was the first thing i checked which was on max.

Well all 4 of My XE's tap and its just the way forward. It means you dont have to change the oil as its so thin it'll probably burn out and you dont have to run the engine in.

i read somewere that it will tap for a while. plus i had oil in the inlet manifold when i took the sfi box off

Probably just residue from where it had been standing? They do tap for a while, mine did, but once warm went quiet.

i let the car warm up. then took it for a run steady but it still taps. sounds like a one man band under the bonnet lol

give the cav a good clean and polish,then youll relise you cant break it mate. keep it dry stored(out in the dry only kinda speak;)and the value of mint cav gsi's is steadily climbing!or you could sell it me, if its realy mint as you say and no rust or patches of laquer of the paint missing etc ill possibly do a deal doubleing your money!

Btw glad you decided not to murder the poor old girl, you might wanna dump the oil and get some new in there if its been stood a while and check ALL of the oil breathers aswell, pick up pipes in the sump are prone for bailing so im told, i know me xe`d merit did that!

there is a blister on the front arch about half inch wide but apart from that the other arches are like new. yep shes getting a good clean at the weekend with and oil change new plugs bits like that. did you mean check the pickup pipe in the sump

I did indeed as mine snapped off in the sump on my old xe`d merit, i sent the car on its way thinking the engine was dead and cos it was a better idea than fixing/replacing as i drove it like a c0ck:(

And i found out later on it was just the pickup had snapped off and was causing oil starvation to the top end, yours could be blocked or just partially going so its worth a check, you will need a new sump gasket even just to check but they usually leak anyways so tis worth having a look-see:thumb:
