Had the car on the road 3 days now and trying to get use to it.
Is there any way of toneing down the torque steer or is it just a case of getting use to it?

Equal length shaft setup will reduce it a little supposidly, other then that, you'll just have to get used to it chap.

well it certainly keeps you on your toes!!!!

ensure the suspension geometry is decent... then learn how to drive the car

Get tracking setup and set tyre pressures. Is it a standard engine? Tbh i didnt think my old xe had much torque steer, was controllable. My mate that bought kept complaining it wheelspun too much lol

You will get used to it, all part of the fun

Equal length shaft makes a hell of a difference, as said make sure all the trackings ok first, did you end up putting poly bushes in ?

Not yet, my main aim has been getting it on the road. I will be polybushin the front end over winter

First time I booted mine last night it pulled right accross the road. I got it tracked up this morning and its loads better. Stil something to get used to again.

Have to agree here though, XE's don't torque steer to the point where you need to be 'on your toes' lol. Thats more phase 2 LET territory.

oh course no one has asked what tyres you've got as the makes a big difference. i put a e16se in a bog standard 1.2 with ditch finders. proper tried to kill you that thing but it was good fun

My xe geometry is all over the place, and been meaning to get it tracked up for ages. But I keep wanting to fit my quick-rack and polybush the front end and fit new arms and ball joints etc.

Torque steers like a b*tch... But it does have a quaife LSD which doean't help. Ordered all my parts today, so fingers crossed all will be done in a couple of weeks. need to find out what flywheel I'm running so i can get a clutch.

WTF :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard: :tard:
its not the diff causing the problems..... unless someone stole the insides of it lol

i thought lsd helped with torque steer lol

although being a Quaife, its gonna behave like an open diff when dicking about in a straight line. hmmmm

Shouldn't a limited slip diff act like it's locked in a straight line? Or do I misunderstand how they work?

a plate diff will do that, but an ATB (quaiffe) wont

Not true, a ATB is a torque biasing diff, and will lock when you put the power down. Hence why so may people bought then for their quater mile car's. Straight line driving.

I'd get some poly bush's and the equal length shaft fitted. A diff will make the biggest differance but its £££

You fail at slating ATB's lol

meh a plate diff is there all the time so you know what its going to do and when :D for me ATB's are wayyyy too unpredictable, I like consistency and an ATB simply cannot do that, even in a straight line it can tend to a grabby side of things lol

Whats the best way to fit equal shafts to a nova?

Pistol Pete

Aquire the equal length drive shaft set up from a donor vehicle, cav/cally. IIRC you will need to get the middle shaft made to fit as the one from your donor car will be too long.

burgo

no you keep the standard middle equal length shaft and get custom outers

Pistol Pete

lol, I fail!

Ok thanks. I have a Calibra equal length shaft, is it possible to buy a outer shaft to fit the Nova or is it custom only?

Cheers!

Chris Astley sells the shaft you need. You need to be using big block hubs and CV's though rather than Nova ones.

A Quaiffe Diff was the best thing I've ever bought for mine (well apart from the engine itself to warrant it) lol

The man speaketh the truth!

Pound to a pinch of poo your tracking/alignment is out!

Removing the lead from your shoes may help too!
