right this is how i see it, i get alot of stick for haveing a nova,you either get pulled by the police for the culture they are seen as bein owned by bloody chavs,:( no matter what you do to it you get told by your family ther old bangors:cry: you get quizzed on why you actually liek them and i carnt really answer that question just there the sex does anybody get the same-ino it shouldnt matter what people think but its eachto there ow taste init
It's been like this for years and will carry on being like this. One of those things you have to live with when owning what was and still is a chavs car.

+1. Alot of cars these days carry a stigma. I dont let it bother me TBH. :)
see i dont get it as ive never been called a chav for owning a nova. the only times ive been pulled is because i was speeding and going to slow and no one has called my cars old bangers

Actually Burgo, your right. I think Corsas, Saxo's Clio'setc are more associated with being chav cars TBH.

Corsas, Saxo's & Clios are just the next generation after the Nova. Lets face it, your aqverage chav isnt going to want to be known for not having the latest 'in' thing. So Novas are no longer the typical chav chariot. Lets face it all chavs aspire to a convertible M3 anyway.
I dont care what reputation Novas had or have. My car has always been proof that not all Novas have to follow the stigma of a poorly modded boy racer wagons rolling to the theme tune of a 5 year old rave tape.
I've had my GSi for nearly 10 years & can see another 10 years of ownership, no worries.
Corsas, Saxos, 106s, etc are current "chav" culture cars.
The Nova was a chav culture car, but unfortunately thats stuck and many people still see it as such.
Lets face it all chavs aspire to a convertible M3 anyway.
I'd say chavs aspire to Skylines or Supras, that certainly seems to be the case from the websites I've seen. Which is annoying, as I want a GTR33 (ok, admittedly most of the "chavved" ones are the GTST's as they can't afford the GTR, but still lol), but now I'm put off.

true true i can see were evry1's coming from, i dont class myself as a chav its not usually by my mates i get the usual ****, like why a nova?? etc
its when ure in the pub u get the "ah uve got a nova and u automaticaly get judged by it" or whateva i dont particually like it whatso ever
just ive learnt to live with it like many ppl have said
but theres a lad with a corsa with lambo doors near my place and he gets absolutly rapped up the bum for having these but its each to there own if me and like many other people want to have novas then so be it and people shoud really leave there opinions to there self tbh it just gets under my skin tbh
I dont get anything like that towards myself? Could be becuase when mine was/has been on the road, it does next to fcuk all milage anyway!
If anything, friends/family see it as a money pit IMO.

my mum and dad are big on nova's anyway when they used to own them and as i have said before my dad was a mechanic in the lombard rally for warren hunt who drove a nova but my g.f on the other hand i quote ''its a grandads car'' simple to resolve as she does not have a licsence dont get in it funnily enough she now loves it as for it being a chav car i see the point i used to be looked at that way untill they found out it will actually beat a more modern 1.2 then they fell silent plus anybody with any knowledge of the car etc will not put it that way just the ones following everybody else who havent a clue and dont forget the punto and escorts BIG CHAV

It don't bother me what others say about my nova. Its a hobbie but also something I enjoy in my spare time.
I've had 4 different ones in my time (so far) and when you've hit your thirtys and are still driving a car that's in its twentys you seem to think your car is too old to be a chavs, bearing in mind the chav kids parents probably owned one at some stage :)

Chav is an attitude, not necessarily the way someone dresses. Car, clothing, etc does not make someone "chav", their attitude and actions do however. IMO of course.

If I was in a Ferrari, and a rusty Nova overtook me at 80+mph on the motorway, would I be upset? No.
Actually, I'd find it very funny, especially if the driver was waving at me lol

lol the only reason the all the chaves have really stopped driving nova's is that they cost too much to keep on the road , MOST nova's these days are wrecks which needs hundreds of pounds worth of welding for each mot , they dont have the money for this so therfore just buy a newer car , which are alot cheaper these days , £500 could actually get you a decent 106 /saxo/ corsa for your first car,

The fact Novas were very successful in Motorsport & were such a durable car against the likes of Sapphire Cosworths etc in rallying should be a great reason to fight the Novas corner. The Mini has similar credentials & often suffers the same teasing & jibes yet to a lesser extent.
At the end of the day, anyone that is taking the pi*s or doesnt understand the appeal is missing out. :D

a mate of mine just bought a vtr saxo, and its 4 years older than my nova and theres more rust in the engine bay than there is in my whole nova!!, cant wait to pass him someday in the 14sr cause im gettin a load of work done to the engine now, he doesnt know, YET, and hes always rippin the piss outa my nova!! :]
i should like to think you could pass him in a standard sr. i beat a vtr in my 1.2

Hoping to buy on in the next week and a lot of the lads at work have asked the question why i want one and so on, but one guy stood up for the nova saying he'd love to own one because of it's past in rallying. My mum isn't that happy with the idea of me having a Nova either lol when i told her i was planning on getting one she straight away asked why i wanted an old banger like that etc.

I get no probs as mine are never on the road.
To be fare i hav'nt driven a nova on the road for a few years now i just take me works car or me vectra and that gets called a rep mobile (at work) untill they see it.lol.
