I tried nitromors on one of my MO's, but was going to take forever, but someone at my dads work knows someone that knows someone else that can get a set refurbed for £40, cant complain at that :D

a blow torch for soldering plumbing fittings might do the trick to soften it and then scrape it with a scraper.

Acid dip. Most places who powder coat have a small dip tank. Strips back to brae cast alloy. Need to be coated in under an hour though to avoid corrosion

I'd shot blast them tbh, it will come off reasonably easily & give the best surface for the next paint to adhere to.

How do i go about getting them sandblasted?

1.Pick wheels up
2.put them in boot of car
3.drive to buisness that does sandblating (which you found on Yell.com)
4.Take wheels out of boot
5.ask them nicely to blast your wheels. lol

Should be no more than £5-£10 per wheel. money well spent if you ask me :thumb:

Ive never heard of blasting or dipping being that cheap before! Costs £100 per set of four to be beadblasted up my way... (Price based on 17" civic type r wheels that were heavily corroded.) Came back spotless and almost ready for paint. Ive never seen such a quality job! Below are the details of the guys in question if needs be. Nick.

cheers mate!

me and the mrs had nowt to do last nite, so i cracked on with one of them while she watched meet joe black haha, i nitromorsed the whole thing, and just got rubbing to be honest, it works well, better than i thought anyway

the only problem is the alloys are fake splits, so they are hard to get at around the bolts and little nooks and crags, so far ive been using a tooth brush, stiff brush, paint scraper, and ive also got some fine/medium angled sanding blocks from b n q,

if anyone can recommend any good tools to use feel free too!, ive been taking pictures anyway so ill post a couple up, im abit strapped at the moment so im just going to do it myself until i can afford to get it done proper, ta lads

You won't get in every nook and cranny dude, have them blasted.
As for that DIY pressure washer conversion kit it will probably be piss weak, also blasting media goes everywhere. Another reason to have the correct enviroment.

yeah, well ive pretty much done one wheel, ive taken a couple of pics, that nitromors **** is so strong, burns skin too lol

im going to crack on with sanding one now, but i know what your saying, but i don't have much to do today so why not haha

i think il probably phone up scuffedalloys.com as they are just up the road from me, see what they can do, the one ive done looks pretty good though, good sense of achievement!

lol, could have took the wheel weight off! The bolts should come out aswell? Are you intending to paint these? If you have nitromorse, i would clean and prime as the bare alloy is exposed and could start corroding before your eyes!! TBH though, you will only get a decent finish by shot blasting them.

Looking at the above pic, it doesnt look too bad, give it a final rub down and prime. See what it looks like.

i reckon another couple of hours every night, for the next.. oo year? and i should have one finished haha, and i have took the weights off now, thank you for bringing that to my attention lol

You've done some good prep there, would have been a good idea to check they fitted before spending money on primer, etc.:)

no sorry mate it does say et 38, i meant "it does look like it says et 59!!"

http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104798&page=4

thats how they look now, going to be selling them once they are done probably, im not a big fan of how rolled arches look!

Thats not the paint by the way its just white primer
